# Connecting the Dots on 9/11
*2023-10-09*

> Bill Young shares a recording of his experience as a financial analyst during the September 11 attacks and closes with a prayer for the victims in Israel and Palestine.

## Introducing the Recording

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer and Lunch Podcast. I apologize for the delay in releasing new episodes—Spotify recently changed the platform’s name. Today I’m playing a recording I made back in 2001, when I was working as a financial analyst during the events of September 11. I hope you’ll be able to hear it clearly.

## The Analyst’s Perspective on 9/11

In the original recording I describe how, as an analyst, I watched the markets react in real time to the attacks. I talk about the sudden volatility, the frantic flow of information, and the way the financial world tried to make sense of the tragedy. It’s a brief, personal account of what it felt like to “connect the dots” in the midst of a national crisis.

## Prayer for the Lost Souls

We now turn to prayer. Let us pray for the souls lost in the recent violence in Israel and Palestine—about 700 in Israel and 400 in Palestine. May God grant them eternal peace, and may He bring an end to the suffering of all peoples caught in conflict. Amen.

*Even in moments of chaos, we are called to bear witness, pray, and seek God’s peace.*
