# Chaplet of Divine Mercy – Day Two for the Souls of Priests and Religious
*2022-10-27*

> Bill Young and John O'Rourke lead the second day of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy novena, focusing on the souls of priests and religious and offering prayers for those who suffer.

## Opening and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Bill welcomes listeners and invites John to open with a prayer. John prays, “Father, through the precious Body and Blood of Your Son, grant us the grace to offer this chaplet as a perpetual sacrifice for the souls in purgatory, especially those most devoted to the mystery of infinite love. May the Holy Spirit guide us to eternal glory. Amen.”

They then recite the opening of the Chaplet: “Jesus, Source of Life, Fountain of Mercy, pour out your Blood and Water upon us. As a fountain of mercy, we trust in you.” The Our Father, Hail Mary, Psalm 130, and the Apostles’ Creed follow.

## The Chaplet Prayers

The hosts repeat the traditional Chaplet prayers on the large beads, invoking the Eternal Father: “Eternal Father, I offer the Body and Blood of Your beloved Son, Lord Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of sins and for the whole world. Have mercy on us and on the whole world, for the sake of His Passion.” This refrain is repeated three times, followed by the “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world” prayer, also repeated three times.

## Intentions for Priests and Religious

Bill explains that today’s focus is the souls of priests and religious who have served the Church: “They gave us communion, confession, baptism, marriage, and the sacraments of Holy Orders. We especially remember Father Mike, Father Steve, Father Joseph, and Father Jack McCormick.”

They pray: “Eternal Father, turn your merciful gaze upon the souls of priests and religious. May they be strengthened by your grace to continue performing works of mercy, and may their prayers intercede for the whole Church. May they guide the faithful toward salvation and glorify the Father of Mercy forever. Amen.”

## Prayer for Suffering and Closing

John leads a special prayer for those who suffer: “Lord, I do not ask to be spared from suffering, but that you help me in my suffering. Give me courage to face life and death, patience and hope in your light, faith, and strength. Remain within me forever. Amen.”

They conclude with the Apostles’ Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. Bill offers a final prayer: “Eternal God, whose mercy is endless, look kindly upon us in our trials. Increase your compassion in us so that we may never despair, but submit to your holy will. Amen.”

## Announcements and Blessing

Bill mentions upcoming prayer events, including a patriotic rosary at St. David’s in February. He invites listeners to follow the podcast on Anchor, Spotify, and to email him at w.r.young12@yahoo.com. He closes with a blessing for John, his family, and all listeners: “May God’s mercy be with you always. Amen.”

*Praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the souls of priests, religious, and the suffering unites us with Christ’s boundless compassion.*
