# Chaplet of Divine Mercy – Day One
*2022-10-27*

> Bill Young and John O'Rourke launch their new combined podcast platform and begin the first day of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy novena, praying for all humanity, especially sinners.

## A New Beginning for the Podcast

Bill welcomes listeners to the merged podcast, now available on Anchor FM, Spotify and the old People Podcasts archive of over 1,700 episodes. He explains that People Podcasts is shutting down, but the content will remain accessible through the new platforms. Bill also shares a brief history of the Medal of Our Lady of Mercy, describing its design given by the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Catherine Labouré in 1830, and invites anyone interested to request a medal via the association’s website.

## Opening Prayer and the Chaplet

Bill leads an opening prayer invoking the blood and water that flowed from the heart of Jesus, asking for mercy for the souls in purgatory. He then recites the Apostles’ Creed, the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Psalm 130 (De Profundis). The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is begun with the usual invocations: “Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood of your Son, Jesus Christ, in union with the whole world, for the sake of His sorrowful Passion. Have mercy on us and on the whole world.” This prayer is repeated for each decade of the chaplet.

## Litany of Divine Mercy

The hosts pray the Litany of Divine Mercy, repeating the response “I trust in you” after each invocation of Divine Mercy. They move through the traditional petitions, invoking God’s mercy for sinners, the suffering, the dying, and the whole creation.

## Closing Prayer and Intentions

Bill concludes with a prayer asking the Eternal Father to look mercifully upon all mankind, especially sinners, and to draw them into the ocean of Christ’s mercy. He thanks the former People Podcast hosts, Doug and Jill, and invites listeners to stay connected via email for future Zoom meetings. John adds a brief prayer to Our Lady of Victory for the needs of Christians everywhere.

*May the mercy of Christ, poured out through the Chaplet, reach every soul, especially those who most need His forgiveness.*
