# Miracles through the chaplet of divine mercy
*2022-10-11*

> Bill Young and John O'Rourke discuss the power of intercessory prayer and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, sharing a testimony of a miraculous recovery.

## A Testimony of Healing

John shares a powerful story from about six weeks ago involving a friend's mother who was nearly 100 years old. After a fall resulting in a broken wrist, arm, and hip, she underwent surgery. While the surgery initially seemed successful, she suddenly suffered organ failure and plummeted toward death. Doctors informed the family that she had only minutes left to live and were unable to even read her blood pressure.

While the family was in distress, John stepped away to pray the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for her healing. Shortly after, as John was speaking with the woman's son, the woman—who had been unconscious and actively dying—suddenly woke up, began moving, and started talking. Her blood pressure immediately returned to a normal level of 120/60. She was stabilized, went home two days later, and eventually recovered well enough to attend a family wedding. The doctors could provide no medical explanation for the sudden reversal.

## The Promises of Divine Mercy

Bill reflects on the messages given to St. Faustina, specifically citing Diary entry 687, where Jesus encourages the unceasing recitation of the Chaplet. The Lord promises that whoever receives this prayer will receive great mercy at the hour of death, and that even the most hardened sinners can receive great grace through it. Bill emphasizes that we must trust in Jesus' mercy and proclaim it to the world.

He connects this to Matthew 10:7-8, where Christ tells His disciples to cure the sick and raise the dead without cost. The recovery of John's friend's mother serves as a living example of this divine power in action.

## The Power of Dictated Prayer

Bill notes a significant theological point: there are very few prayers dictated word-for-word by Christ Himself. He identifies the Lord's Prayer and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy as the two primary examples. Because of this direct origin, Bill describes the Chaplet as one of the most powerful spiritual tools available to the faithful outside of the Mass and the Eucharist.

## A Community of Prayer

The hosts conclude by emphasizing the importance of daily prayer, particularly the Rosary and the Chaplet, especially at the 3 o'clock hour. They invite listeners to join their prayer community via Zoom and mention their involvement with the Legion of Mary. They encourage everyone to share the Good News and maintain a habit of prayer to invite miracles into their lives.

*Pray the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy every day, for through trust in God's mercy, miracles can happen.*
