# Prayer of the Most Precious Blood and Chaplet of Divine Mercy
*2022-07-20*

> Bill and John pray the Prayer of the Most Precious Blood, meditate on the seven mysteries of Christ’s blood, and pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, invoking God’s mercy for the world.

## Opening Prayer to the Most Precious Blood

We began with the Prayer to the Most Precious Blood:

Precious Blood of Jesus, price paid as ransom for the universe, drink and cleansing water for our souls, defense of humanity before the throne of supreme mercy, we adore you profoundly. May we make reparation for the outrages we commit, especially for hardened sinners who blaspheme against you. May the Blood of infinite value be ever blessed. O Blood of redemption, life, unity, peace, source of grace, grant that all hearts and tongues may praise and bless you now and forever. Amen.

## The Seven Mysteries of Christ’s Blood

We reflected on the seven traditional mysteries, each invoking the Blood of Christ:

1. **The Blood Shed at the Crucifixion** (John 19:34). “O Son of God, whose first drops of Blood were shed for our salvation, reveal to us the value of life and the courage to live in faith.”
2. **The Blood Sweated in Gethsemane** (Luke 22:44). “May the Blood you sweated help us hate sin and cling to true love.”
3. **The Blood on the Scourging Pillar** (John 19:1). “May your Blood that fell on the pillar inspire us to purity and contemplation of your wondrous creation.”
4. **The Blood in the Crown of Thorns** (John 19:2‑5). “O King of the Universe, may your Blood destroy selfishness and pride, that we may serve our brothers and sisters with humility.”
5. **The Blood on the Way to Calvary** (John 19:17‑18). “Savior of the World, may your Blood light our paths and help us bear our cross.”
6. **The Blood at the Crucifixion** (Luke 23:33‑34). “O Lamb of God, teach us to forgive those who have harmed us and to love our enemies.”
7. **The Blood from the Pierced Side** (John 19:31‑34). “Adorable Heart of Jesus, accept our prayers for the poor, the suffering, and for the unity of all humanity in your kingdom of love and justice.”

Each mystery was followed by the Our Father, Hail Mary, and five “Glory Be” prayers.

## Chaplet of Divine Mercy

We then prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, beginning with the opening prayer:

“O Jesus, source of life, fountain of mercy, pour forth your mercy upon the whole world. You are the fountain of mercy that flows from the heart of Jesus.”

We recited the Our Father, Hail Mary, and the Apostles’ Creed, then continued with the ordinary prayers of the chaplet, invoking God’s mercy for priests, religious, and all souls.

## Litany of the Most Precious Blood

Before concluding, we prayed a litany invoking the Blood of Christ:

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. God the Father, have mercy. God the Son, have mercy. God the Holy Spirit, have mercy. One God, save us. Blood of Christ, poured upon the scourging pillar, save us. Blood of Christ, shed on the cross, save us. Blood of Christ, source of forgiveness, save us. …

The litany ended with a prayer for the safe journey of Father Mike Connor to Ireland.

*May the Precious Blood of Christ continually cleanse and protect us, drawing us ever deeper into God’s boundless mercy.*
