# A thankful prayer to the hearts of Jesus and Mary for the overturn of Roe v. Wade
*2022-06-24*

> Following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Bill Young and John O'Rourke offer prayers of thanksgiving and a consecration of the family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

## A Historic Day for Life

Today is June 24th, 2022, and it has been a historic day. The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a law that had been the law of the land for over 50 years. It was not a good law; it killed unborn humans through abortion. For those who supported it—especially those who call themselves Catholics—we pray that they may be enlightened and come to know our Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Those who support the murder of the least of the least will have to pay a price if they wish to enter heaven.

## Prayer to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

To mark this occasion, we begin with a prayer of thanksgiving to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary: Hearts most holy, most sweet, most humble, and most pure, we greet you. Hearts given without reserve, hearts of patience, obedience, diligence, and faithfulness, we greet you. Hearts most joyful and full of mercy, beloved Heart of Jesus and of Mary, we greet you, adore you, appreciate you, praise you, and glorify you. We give you thanks and love you with all our heart, soul, and strength. We offer our hearts to you; we consecrate them to you as a sacrifice. Receive them, possess them completely, purify them, enlighten them, and sanctify them for your lives and reigns now and forever. Amen.

## Consecration of the Family

We also offer the consecration of the family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As promised to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the Lord blesses the homes where the image of the Sacred Heart is exposed and venerated, bringing peace to families and blessings to their work.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Sweet Heart of Jesus, who made great promises to devoted St. Margaret Mary, accept the consecration of our family. We recognize you as the King of our souls and proclaim your dominion over all creatures and over us. While the enemies of Jesus repeat that satanic cry, 'We do not want him to reign over us,' we repeat with greater love: reign, O Jesus, over our families and over each member. Reign in our souls so that we may always believe the truth you have taught us, and reign in our hearts so that we may always follow your divine commandments.

Lord, let your blessings be poured out upon us. Bless our works, our undertakings, our health, and our interests. Be with us in joy and sorrow, in prosperity and adversity. May peace, unity, respect, mutual love, and good example reign among us. Defend us from dangerous illness, misfortunes, and above all from sin. Write our names in the most holy wound of your heart so that, having been united as a family here on earth, we may find ourselves united in heaven to sing the glory and triumphs of your mercy. Amen.

## A Call to Repentance and Love

When Jesus cured ten lepers, only one returned to thank Him. Let us be that one—the one family, parish, archdiocese, or country—that recognizes the tragedy of abortion as a holocaust of the least of the least. Millions of children were lost over the last 50 years. I recall a story about St. Mother Teresa; when asked why God allows cancer, she suggested that perhaps the scientist who would have cured cancer was aborted as a baby. God always has a good plan for His people; death and murder come from the evil one.

It is time to repent. God has mercy, and even the worst of us can repent, but we must do so before it is too late. I believe this decision is a step in the right direction to bring our country closer to our Lord. While some will fight this, we must remember to love our enemies. We love those who believe in abortion, but we hold firm in our faith that killing an unborn child is like killing our Lord Jesus Christ.

*Let us be the ones who return to thank God for the protection of the unborn and use this moment to lead our country closer to the Lord through repentance and love.*
