# Act of Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
*2022-06-06*

> Bill and John pray the Act of Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, reflect on recent violence, and share prayers for the souls in purgatory and the world’s need for mercy.

## Opening and Context

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young with John O’Rourke. Today, June 6, we’re praying the Act of Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, since June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart. We also wanted to acknowledge the recent shooting in Tennessee and the ongoing tragedy of gun violence, especially in schools. All loss of life is a grave wound to our world, and we pray for peace until the Lord returns and establishes His thousand‑year reign of no crime, no violence, no death, and no sickness.

## The Consecration Prayer

We begin in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, admirable Heart of our Redeemer, Father, Brother, and Friend, we receive from your love the greatest gifts. Sweet Heart of Jesus, consumed by love for us, we consecrate ourselves entirely to you for our salvation. We offer our bodies, souls, and memory to your divine heart, that we may ever remember your love. May we be united with you on earth and in heaven.

Lord, we also pray for the souls in purgatory: may they be delivered by your mercy and enter the glory of your kingdom.

## Divine Mercy Chaplet and Traditional Prayers

We continue with the Divine Mercy Chaplet at the 3 o’clock hour, invoking the fountain of life and mercy that flows from the Blood and Water of Jesus. We pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, Psalm 130, and the Apostles’ Creed, reaffirming our faith in the Holy Trinity, the Incarnation, the Passion, and the resurrection. We then offer the Eucharistic prayer, asking the Father to pour out mercy on the whole world for the sake of Christ’s sorrowful passion.

## Litany of Divine Mercy

We recite the Litany of Divine Mercy, responding each time, “I trust in you.” The litany reminds us that divine mercy is the source of all grace, miracles, and salvation, extending to sinners, the dying, and all of creation.

## Final Reflections and Local News

We shared news from our parishes: the upcoming Solemnity of the Sacred Heart on June 24 at St. Gregory’s, the retirement of Father Iglesias, and the recent assignments of several priests in South Florida. We praised the many holy men and women serving the Church, especially our sisters and deacons, and asked God’s blessing on all clergy, bishops, and Pope Francis.

*Consecrating ourselves to the Sacred Heart unites us with Christ’s love and prepares us for the day when His kingdom of peace will be fully realized.*
