# God's love can do this
*2022-03-31*

> On Holy Saturday, Bill Young reflects on the power of God's love to overcome death and sin, drawing from the words of Pope Francis in 'Renew Our Hearts'.

## The Power of God's Love

Today is Holy Saturday. I hope everyone had a good Good Friday and was able to attend the Stations of the Cross and the Passion of the Lord services. Today, we are continuing with the book 'Renew Our Hearts,' a personal invitation to the Desiderio Desideravi version from Pope Francis. Our focus today is titled 'God's love can do this,' based on Luke 1:37: 'For nothing is impossible with God.'

## Victory Over Death

When we say nothing is impossible with God, it means that God's love is stronger than evil and death itself, and that this love can transform our lives. Jesus did not simply return to his former earthly life; instead, he entered into the glorious life of God with our humanity, opening us to a future of hope. He no longer belongs to the past, but lives in the present and is projected toward the future.

## Overcoming What Crushes Life

God's newness appears to us as a victory over sin, evil, and death—over everything that crushes life and makes it seem less human. We are invited to let the risen Jesus enter our lives and welcome him as a friend we can trust. He is life.

## A Call to Trust

If you have kept him at a distance until now, step forward; he will receive you with open arms. If you have been indifferent, take a risk; you will not be disappointed. If following him seems difficult, do not be afraid. Trust him and be confident that he is close to you. He is with you and will give you the peace you are looking for and the strength to live as he would have you do.

*Jesus, help me welcome you as a constant companion in my life and always walk in your ways.*
