# Consecration to St. Joseph and the Divine Mercy Chaplet
*2022-03-25*

> Bill and John reflect on their recent consecration to St. Joseph, share a prayer of consecration to the Holy Family, and pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, especially for those suffering in Ukraine.

## A Special Consecration to St. Joseph

Yesterday, on the feast of St. Joseph, 47 of us were consecrated to him at St. Gregory the Great in Plantation, Florida. We thank Esther, who organized the event and led us through the 33‑day preparation using Father Galli’s book on consecration to St. Joseph. The experience left us feeling a deeper sense of protection for our families, which is so vital in today’s world.

## Prayer of Consecration to the Holy Family

We recited a short prayer of consecration to the Holy Family of Nazareth:

“Holy Family of Nazareth, I consecrate myself entirely to you forever, that I may follow the path toward holiness under your guidance. I take you, O Mary, as my true mother, and you, O Joseph, as my guardian and master, that I may live like Jesus, who submitted himself to your authority in all things. Help me, O Holy Family, to fulfill God’s plan of love for me, and grant that I may always live in union with the Church, the Pope, and the communion of the Father.”

This prayer was originally approved in Rome on 5 January 1993.

## The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

We began the Chaplet with the opening prayer:

“Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

We then prayed the Our Father, Hail Mary, the Apostles’ Creed, and Psalm 130. After the Chaplet we recited the Litany of Divine Mercy, responding each line with “I trust in you.”

We concluded with a heartfelt prayer for the souls of priests, religious, and especially for the suffering people of Ukraine, asking that God’s merciful gaze be upon them and grant strength to endure.

## Additional Prayers and Blessings

We offered a prayer to St. Joseph asking for his intercession and protection, and a prayer for peace based on Pope St. John Paul II’s teachings. Bill also mentioned the recent blessing of his rosary beads and medals, thanking God for that grace.

## Closing Thoughts

Bill wishes John a happy birthday and reminds listeners to keep praying for those affected by war, especially the displaced in Ukraine, and to trust in God’s endless mercy.

*Consecrating ourselves to St. Joseph and the Holy Family deepens our trust in God’s mercy, especially in times of suffering.*
