# Praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy
*2022-02-09*

> Bill Young and John O'Rourke lead a Chaplet of Divine Mercy, including prayers for the Holy Spirit, souls in purgatory, and a litany of Divine Mercy, while inviting listeners to join a prayer vigil against a planned satanic conference.

## Opening Prayer to the Holy Spirit

We began by invoking the Holy Spirit, asking Him to grow in our trust and abandonment: “Holy Spirit, Spirit of knowledge, wisdom, and love, you alone know the truth and what is good for me. I abandon myself to you, trusting that you will give me what you have decided for me. Pour out your gifts upon me. Praise be to you. Amen.”

## Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory

John offered a special Wednesday prayer for the souls in purgatory: “Lord Jesus, who suffered on the streets of Jerusalem, deliver the souls in purgatory, especially those whose merit is richest for you, that they may be glorified in the throne of heaven. Amen.”

## The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

We recited the opening prayers of the Chaplet, including the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Psalm 130. The Apostles’ Creed was spoken in full. Then we moved through the decades of the chaplet, each of us praying a decade while offering the Body and Blood of Christ for the whole world’s salvation.

The repeated invocation was: “Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood of your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and for the whole world. Have mercy on us and on the whole world.”

## Litany of Divine Mercy

John led a litany based on the words of St. Faustina, with the response “I trust in you” after each attribute of Divine Mercy, such as “Divine Mercy, source of miracles and wonders,” “Divine Mercy, shielding us from the fire of hell,” and “Divine Mercy, the hope of souls.”

## Special Prayers and Announcements

We prayed a Fatima-inspired sacrificial prayer for the conversion of sinners and offered a prayer for souls in purgatory, invoking the streams of blood and water from the Heart of Jesus to extinguish the flames of purgatory.

We also announced a three‑day prayer vigil (February 11‑13) against the upcoming “Satan Con” conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, urging listeners to pray an hour each day and to join the effort via the provided website link.

Finally, we closed with a prayer to the Holy Spirit for purification and enlightenment, asking that we may follow Christ’s footsteps and reach the Most High through His grace.

*May the mercy of Christ fill our hearts, drawing us ever closer to the Holy Spirit and to the souls yearning for our prayers.*
