# Signs from God and the mercy of the Divine Heart
*2021-10-15*

> Bill Young and John O'Rourke lead a prayer session focused on the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the souls in Purgatory, and the intercession of the Blessed Mother.

## Prayers for the Souls in Purgatory

We begin our session today on a Friday, a day traditionally dedicated to the souls in Purgatory. We offer our prayers through the precious blood that Jesus shed upon the wood of the cross, specifically from His most sacred hands and feet. We pray that no neglect of ours may hinder these souls from praising God in His glory and blessing Him forever.

## The Chaplet and Litany of Divine Mercy

Together with our community, we pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, offering the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ for the sake of His sorrowful Passion. We also recite the Litany of Divine Mercy, acknowledging the incomprehensible mystery of God's mercy that flows from the Most Blessed Trinity and shields us from the fire of hell.

As part of the Novena to Divine Mercy, today is the fourth day. On this day, Jesus asked St. Faustina to bring Him those who do not believe in God and those who do not yet know Him. We pray that the rays of His grace enlighten those who are far from the faith, so that they may also exult in the generosity of His mercy.

## The Mother of Our Redeemer

We conclude our formal prayers with a special prayer written by St. Pope John Paul II titled 'Mother of Our Redeemer.' This prayer draws our attention to the relationship between Mary and each person of the Holy Trinity. By following Mary's example, we learn how to encounter the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and how to pray with a sincere heart. We entrust the Church and all humanity—with all our fears and hopes—to her maternal care.

## Offerings of Sacrifice and Mercy

In the spirit of Friday's devotion to the Passion of Christ, we reflect on the importance of offering up our sufferings and mortifications. We remember the message given to the children at Fatima, offering our sacrifices for the conversion of sinners and reparation for offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Finally, we pray for the grace to be truly merciful to others. We ask the Lord to transform us into a living reflection of His mercy—that our eyes, ears, tongues, hands, and feet may all be instruments of comfort, service, and forgiveness for our neighbors.

*By immersing ourselves in the Divine Mercy and following the example of the Blessed Mother, we can become living reflections of God's love and mercy to the world.*
