> Bill Young and John O'Rourke lead a special rosary dedicated to those suffering from illness, incorporating the Chaplet of the Ten Virtues of the Blessed Mother.

## Praying for the Sick

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young and John O'Rourke. Today, we are praying a special rosary for the sick. This is very appropriate because our leader in the Legion of Mary has been ill with the flu, and others in the Legion are also sick. We are praying for everyone suffering from illness—whether it be chronic diseases like cancer and diabetes, childhood illnesses, or those still recovering from coronavirus. It is so important that we pray for the sick.

## The Chaplet of the Ten Virtues

As a special addition to our prayer today, a member of the Legion of Mary, Ann, suggested we pray the Chaplet of the Ten Virtues of Mary. For those who aren't familiar with this devotion, we add a specific virtue of the Blessed Mother to each Hail Mary. These ten virtues are: most pure, most prudent, most humble, most faithful, most devout, most obedient, most poor, most patient, most merciful, and most sorrowful.

## The Sorrowful Mysteries

We pray the Sorrowful Mysteries, meditating on the passion of Christ while invoking the virtues of Mary. We begin with the Agony in the Garden, focusing on contrition. We move to the Scourging at the Pillar, meditating on purity. The third mystery is the Crowning with Thorns, where we reflect on moral page [unclear]. The fourth is Jesus carrying the Cross, focusing on patience, and we conclude with the Crucifixion, meditating on self-denial.

## Closing Prayers

We conclude our prayer with the Hail Holy Queen and the prayer for the Blessed Virgin Mary. We ask for her protection and mercy, remembering that it was never known that anyone who fled to her protection was left unaided. We entrust all our sick family members and listeners to her maternal care.

*Through the intercession of the Blessed Mother and her ten virtues, we find strength and healing for all those suffering in body and spirit.*
