# Rosary for the sick: the luminous mysteries
*2021-08-12*

> Bill Young and John O'Rourke lead a special prayer service and Rosary dedicated to the sick, the homebound, and caregivers.

## Intentions for the Sick

Bill and John open the session by gathering intentions for those in need of healing. They offer special prayers for Josephina and the homebound community, as well as the ladies of the Legion of Mary facing various household challenges. The prayer is extended to all those battling cancer, chronic illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease, and those recovering from coronavirus, while also remembering the vital role and needs of their caregivers.

## Prayer to the Divine Physician

The session begins with a heartfelt prayer to Lord Jesus Christ, the Divine Physician. The prayer asks for mercy and healing for those suffering in mind or body, seeking the peace of soul that only Christ can provide. This is followed by a profession of faith in the Holy Trinity and an act of contrition, asking for forgiveness for sins and the grace to attain eternal life.

## The Luminous Mysteries

The hosts lead the congregation through the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary. They meditate on the Baptism of Jesus and His openness to the Holy Spirit; the Wedding at Cana and the intercession of Mary; the Proclamation of the Kingdom and the call to repentance; the Transfiguration and the desire for holiness; and the Institution of the Eucharist and the grace of Eucharistic Adoration. Throughout the decades, they incorporate specific petitions for the virtues of the Blessed Mother, including her purity, humility, and patience.

## Concluding Prayers and Intercession

The Rosary concludes with the Salve Regina, invoking the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Queen of Mercy and our gracious advocate in the valley of tears. The prayer asks for the intercession of the Mother of God so that the faithful may be worthy of the promises of Christ and imitate the mysteries of the Rosary in their own lives.

*Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the meditation on the Luminous Mysteries, we find strength and hope for all those suffering in body and spirit.*
