# Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Prayers for Souls in Purgatory
*2021-08-05*

> Bill Young and John O'Rourke lead a prayerful episode featuring the Thursday prayer for souls in purgatory, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Apostles’ Creed, a Divine Mercy litany, and the Fatima prayer, asking for the end of the pandemic and the return of both species of the Eucharist.

## Thursday Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory

All‑Lord God Almighty, by the precious blood, body and blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, which He offered on the eve of His Passion, we ask that You deliver the souls in purgatory, especially those who were devoted to the mystery of infinite love. May they ever praise You, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and attain eternal glory. Amen.

## The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## Psalm 130 (De Profundis) and the Apostles’ Creed

Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord; hear my voice. Let Your ears be attentive to my supplications. With merciful forgiveness, You hear the cries of the humble. I trust in Your Word, O Lord, and my soul hopes in You from morning till night.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, rose on the third day, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the dead, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Divine Mercy Litany

Lord Jesus, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, source of life, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, greatest attribute of God, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, incomprehensible mystery, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, flowing from the Holy Trinity, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, unfathomable to angels and humans, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, source of miracles and wonders, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, encompassing the whole universe, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, present in the Holy Eucharist, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, present in Baptism, I trust in You. Divine Mercy, accompanying us to the hour of death, I trust in You. Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen.

## Fatima (Our Lady of Fatima) Prayer

O God, who has given us the most precious gift of the Holy Eucharist, may we ever cherish the mystery of Your Body and Blood. May the grace of this sacrament increase in our souls, that we may always be united to Christ and bear fruit for His kingdom. Amen.

## Closing Prayer and Petition for the End of the Pandemic

Eternal God, whose mercy knows no bounds, look kindly upon us. Increase Your mercy in our hearts so that in difficult moments we do not despair, but submit ourselves with confidence to Your holy will, which is love and mercy itself. May the coronavirus cease, that the Church may once again celebrate both the Body and Blood of Christ together. Amen.

*May the merciful love of Christ bring us healing, unity, and the full celebration of the Eucharist.*
