> Bill Young leads a series of prayers, including the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and a special Rosary, focusing on the souls in Purgatory and those affected by the Surfside building collapse.

## Prayers for the Souls in Purgatory

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young. Today is Wednesday, and our specific prayer for this day is for the indulgence of those in Purgatory. We pray: 'O Lord God Almighty, I ask you, by your precious blood which your divine son, Jesus shed in the streets of Jerusalem when he carried the cross upon his scarred shoulders, deliver the souls in purgatory, especially the soul which has the richest merit before you, so that in that crown of glory which awaits it, it may magnify you and bless you forever. Amen.'

There are souls who are so close to heaven that they only need one more prayer, one little push, to enter into glory. While we may not know who those souls are, God knows, and we offer these prayers for them.

## The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

At the 3 o'clock hour, we gather to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We begin by invoking the fountain of life and the ocean of mercy, asking that the blood and water which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus may be a fountain of mercy for us. We trust in You.

Following the opening prayers, the Apostles' Creed, and Psalm 51, we offer the Eternal Father the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. We conclude by proclaiming: 'Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.'

## Interceding for Surfside and the Little Children

We offer these prayers especially for those who passed away in the Surfside building collapse and for the families of those who are still missing. We pray that they may be found and that their families find closure and peace.

Today also marks the sixth day of the Novena to Divine Mercy, which is dedicated to the meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. I remember a little boy named Thomas who suffered from brain cancer. We provided him with rosaries blessed by a chorus of priests, and he and his mother prayed with them. I have seen the power of the Rosary in my own life during times of loss and miscarriage. I encourage everyone—especially those struggling with grief or tragedy—to keep praying the Rosary daily. It is incredibly powerful.

## The Ten Virtues of the Blessed Mother

To conclude, we pray a special Rosary focusing on the Ten Virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary: Most Pure, Most Prudent, Most Humble, Most Faithful, Most Devoted, Most Obedient, Most Poor, Most Patient, Most Merciful, and Most Sorrowful. These virtues are rooted in the Gospels.

Some may ask why Catholics honor Mary. We love her because she is the mother of Jesus. In His first miracle, Jesus acted because of His mother's request. As Father Jeff, our pastor at St. Maximillian Kolbe in Pine Pines, Florida, once said: 'If you want to be a friend of Jesus, you need to know Mary.' By honoring her virtues, we draw closer to her Son.

*The Rosary and the Divine Mercy are powerful tools for healing and intercession, reminding us that the way to Jesus is often through the heart of His mother.*
