# Monday Chaplet of Divine Mercy – Day Four Prayers
*2021-07-05*

> Bill Young and John O'Rourke lead the Monday prayer of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, offering the indulgence prayer, the Our Father, Hail Mary, the fourth day chaplet for those who do not yet know God, and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

## Welcome and Opening Remarks

Good afternoon, this is Bill Young with John O'Rourke. We hope everyone had a safe and joyful Fourth of July weekend. After a brief technical pause, we’re ready to begin our Monday prayer.

## Monday Indulgence Prayer

The indulgence prayer for Monday asks for the precious blood of Christ to be applied to the souls in Purgatory, especially those nearest the entrance to glory:

"O Lord, God Almighty, we ask You for the divine precious blood which Your Son Jesus shed on the Cross, that it may deliver the souls in Purgatory, especially those nearest the entrance into Your glory, that they may, without delay, begin to praise and bless You forever. Amen."

We follow this with the usual opening prayer invoking the fountain of life and the blood and water flowing from the Heart of Jesus.

## The Our Father, Hail Mary, and Psalms

We pray the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and a short Psalm (Psalm 130) together, asking God’s mercy and forgiveness, and offering the prayer of the Apostles’ Creed.

"We believe in God, the Father Almighty…" (full Creed recited).

## Chaplet of Divine Mercy – Fourth Day

Today’s chaplet is for those who do not yet believe in God or have not yet known Him. We pray:

"Most compassionate Jesus, You are the life of the whole world. Receive into Your merciful heart the souls who do not yet believe in You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them, that they may join us in exalting Your wonderful mercy. Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon these souls, draw them to the light of the Gospel, and grant that they may know the great happiness of loving You. Amen."

We then recite the Litany of Divine Mercy, responding each line with “I trust in You.”

## Litany of Divine Mercy

The litany begins with:

"Divine Mercy, gushing forth from the Heart of Jesus, I trust in You."

and continues through numerous titles of mercy—source of life, source of miracles, shield against hell, hope of the despairing, and so on—each time answered with the same trust.

We conclude the litany with a short prayer for the suffering and the sick.

## Closing Prayer

We finish with a prayer asking God’s endless mercy to fill us, that we may never despair but submit confidently to His holy will of love and mercy. Amen.

Bill thanks listeners, invites them to email requests, and wishes everyone a pleasant day.

*May the mercy of Christ draw even those who have not yet known Him into the light of the Gospel.*
