# Rosary for the Sick – Luminous Mysteries
*2021-07-02*

> Bill Young and John O’Rourke lead a rosary devoted to the sick, sharing personal intentions and praying the Luminous Mysteries.

## Welcome and Intentions

Bill welcomes listeners and introduces the special rosary for the sick. He invites listeners to submit intentions by email. John joins, and the two share a few updates about upcoming meetings. They then list the personal intentions they will pray for: a young woman named Ibi with cancer undergoing treatment in Salt Lake City; a child named Thomas who recently passed away; Bill’s brother recovering from heart surgery; and Bill’s sister Etta in Hungary battling cancer.

## Opening Prayer

John leads the opening{unclear} prayer for the sick:

Almighty and eternal God, the everlasting salvation of those who believe, hear us on behalf of your servants who need your loving mercy. Restore their bodily health, that they may give thanks to you in your Church through Christ our Lord. Amen.

## The Rosary Begins

The hosts recite the Apostles’ Creed, the Our Father, and three Hail Marys for an increase in faith, hope, and charity. They then give the Glory Be and move into the Luminous Mysteries.

## The Luminous Mysteries for the Sick

1. **The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan** – they pray for openness to the Holy Spirit and for the sick to be renewed in Christ’s grace.
2. **The Wedding Feast at Cana** – they ask that Christ’s miracle of turning water into wine may bring healing and transformation to those suffering.
3. **The Proclamation of the Kingdom** – they pray for conversion, repentance, and trust in God’s providence for the ill.
4. **The Transfiguration** – they seek the desire for holiness and the light of Christ to shine upon the sick.
5. **The Institution of the Eucharist** – they adore the mystery of the Body and Blood of Christ, asking that the sacrament bring comfort and cure.

For each mystery they recite the Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be, offering their personal intentions each time.

## Closing Prayer

Bill concludes with a prayer to the Holy Mother of God, asking her intercession for all sinners, especially those at the hour of death, and a final plea for God’s mercy, forgiveness, and protection from the fires of hell. He ends with the traditional “Hail Holy Queen” and a short Marian antiphon, asking that the Virgin Mary may be a refuge for all who seek her aid.

*May the prayers of this rosary bring comfort, healing, and hope to all who are suffering.*
