# Praying for the Lukewarm Souls – Wednesday Chaplet and Divine Mercy
*2021-06-04*

> Bill Young leads the Wednesday prayer for the souls in purgatory, especially the lukewarm, and guides the group through the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Litany of Divine Mercy.

## Opening Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory

Lord Almighty, we ask you, by the precious blood of your Divine Son, Jesus, who shed it on the streets of Jerusalem while bearing the cross, to deliver the souls in purgatory, especially those who have earned great merit before you, that they may glorify the throne which awaits them and be magnified and blessed forever. Amen.

## The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

We begin with the sign of the cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

We continue with the Divine Mercy Prayer: Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood of your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and for the sins of the whole world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Repeated three times.)

We conclude with the Apostles’ Creed.
