# Fourth Day of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy: Prayers for Those Who Do Not Know God
*2021-05-23*

> Bill Young leads the fourth day of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, focusing on prayers for souls who have not yet known God, especially those in remote tribes, and offers the traditional prayers of the chaplet.

## Opening and Intentions

Good afternoon, this is Bill Young. John O'Rourke is listening in from home while he recovers from surgery—God bless him. Today is the fourth day of the Novena to Divine Mercy, dedicated to those who do not believe in God and those who have not yet known Him. I was reminded of a recent article about West African tribes fighting Al‑Qaeda; they have a God, but not the God of the Gospel. May this prayer reach them.

## Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. O Jesus, source of life and mercy, open the ocean of Your mercy to the whole world. Blood and water flow from Your heart as a fountain of mercy for us. We trust in You.

## Traditional Prayers

Lord God Almighty, by the precious blood which Your Son shed in the garden, deliver the souls in purgatory, especially those most in need of Your mercy, that they may attain glory and praise forever. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed (as spoken).

## Prayer of the Fourth Day

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who do not yet believe in You and those who have not yet known You, especially the peoples of West Africa. Draw them to the light of the Gospel, that they may experience the joy of loving You and share in the generosity of Your mercy for all eternity. Amen.

## Litany of Divine Mercy (Responses)

I trust in You, Divine Mercy, source of all goodness. I trust in You, the fountain of mercy flowing from the heart of Jesus. I trust in You, who embraces all creation, who shields us from hell, who brings hope to the despondent, who sustains us at the hour of death, and who calls us to eternal life. (Repeated as in the traditional litany.)

## Closing Prayer

Eternal God, whose mercy knows no bounds, look kindly upon us. Increase Your mercy in us so that in difficult moments we do not despair, but remain confident in Your holy will, which is love and mercy itself. Amen.

*May the mercy of Christ reach every heart that has not yet known Him, drawing all souls into the light of the Gospel.*
