# Chaplet of Divine Mercy – Ninth Day for the Lukewarm Souls
*2021-05-19*

> Bill Young leads the ninth day of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, focusing on prayers for those whose faith has grown lukewarm and asking God’s boundless mercy for them.

## Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord Jesus, source of life, pour forth your mercy on all souls. Fountain of divine mercy, empty yourself upon us. Blood and water, the heart of Jesus, flow as a fountain of mercy for us. I trust in you.

## The Our Father, Hail Mary, and Apostles’ Creed

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell, rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Chaplet of Divine Mercy – The Decades

We each took a decade of the chaplet. The prayer for each decade was:

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood of your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and for the sins of the whole world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen.

## Reflection on Lukewarm Souls

We are now on the ninth day of the Novena to Divine Mercy, praying especially for souls whose faith has become lukewarm. These souls are dear to our hearts; we remember the garden of olives where Christ wept for those who would fall away. We ask the Father to turn His merciful gaze upon them, that they may be drawn into the boundless love of Jesus and receive the gift of holy love. Nothing is beyond God’s power.

Eternal Father, look upon the lukewarm souls with the compassion of your Son. May the Passion of Christ move them to glorify His mercy. Amen.

## Closing Prayer

Eternal God, whose mercy is endless and whose compassion knows no limits, look kindly upon us. Increase your mercy in us so that in difficult moments we do not despair but trust confidently in your holy will, which is love and mercy itself. Amen.

## Invitation

Thank you to Ania, Gabby, and everyone who joined us today. Tomorrow at 3 p.m. we will pray the Chaplet again and offer a special prayer for our co‑host John O’Rourke, who is undergoing surgery. Please keep him in your prayers. God bless you all.

*May the Divine Mercy of Christ draw even the lukewarm souls into the fullness of God’s love.*
