# The souls who especially venerate and glorify my mercy
*2021-05-17*

> Bill Young, John O'Rourke, and Gabby gather to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and observe the seventh day of the Novena to Divine Mercy.

## Opening Prayers

We begin our prayer today with the sign of the cross. We call upon the source of life and the ocean of mercy to open up for the whole world. O font of life and favorable divine mercy, invoke the whole world and empty yourself out upon us. O blood and water, which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in you.

Following this, we unite in the fundamental prayers of our faith: the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Apostles' Creed.

## The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

We move into the decades of the Chaplet. For each decade, we offer this prayer to the Father: 'Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dear and beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.'

We repeat this plea for mercy, focusing on the sorrowful passion of Our Lord, asking that He have mercy on us and on the whole world. We conclude the Chaplet by proclaiming: 'Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.'

We pray that the Eternal God, whose mercy is endless and whose treasury of compassion is exhaustible, looks kindly upon us. May we increase in mercy so that in difficult moments we may not despair, but with great confidence commit ourselves to His holy will, which is love and mercy itself.

## Day Seven of the Novena

Today is day seven of the Novena, focusing on the souls who especially venerate and glorify God's mercy. These are the souls who hope and immerse themselves in His mercy, who sorrowed over His passion, and who entered most deeply into His spirit. They are the living images of His compassionate heart.

It is promised that these souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life and that not one of them will go to the fires of hell. The Lord shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death. These souls are mighty with the very power of God; in the midst of afflictions and adversities, they go forward confident in His mercy. United to Jesus, they carry all mankind on their shoulders. They are the living gospel, their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their hearts overflow with joy.

## The Litany of Divine Mercy

We conclude our time of prayer with the Litany of Divine Mercy. Through each petition, we respond with the profound act of trust: 'I trust in You.' We acknowledge the mercy that flows from the heart of Jesus, the mercy that embraces the whole world, and the mercy that sustains us through mortal life and into eternity.

*Those who deeply venerate and glorify God's mercy become living images of His compassionate heart and are promised His special protection at the hour of death.*
