# Praying the chaplet and novena to divine mercy
*2021-05-14*

> Bill Young, John O'Rourke, and Gabby gather to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the fourth day of the Novena to Divine Mercy, specifically interceding for those who do not believe in God.

## Opening prayers

We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. We start with an opening prayer: O expired Jesus, from whose side the source of life gushed forth for souls in the ocean of mercy, open up for the whole world. O fount of life and river of divine mercy, inundate the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You.

## The chaplet of divine mercy

Following the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Apostles' Creed, we enter into the Chaplet. We offer the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

We conclude the chaplet by proclaiming: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. We pray that the Eternal God, whose mercy is endless and whose compassion is inexhaustible, looks kindly upon us and increases His mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we may not despair, but with great confidence submit ourselves to His holy will, which is love and mercy itself.

## Novena for those who do not believe

Today is day four of the Novena to Divine Mercy, and we pray specifically for those who do not believe in God and those who do not yet know Him. Jesus thought of them during His bitter Passion, and the Father's will comforted His heart and immersed them in the ocean of His mercy.

Most compassionate Jesus, You are the light of the whole world. Receive into Your most compassionate Heart the souls who do not believe in God and those who yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they too, together with us, may exult in this wonderful mercy. Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who do not believe in You and those who yet do not know You. Draw them to the light of the Gospel, for these souls do not know the great happiness it is to love You.

## Litany of divine mercy

We conclude our time together with Saint Faustina's Litany of Divine Mercy, repeating the phrase 'I trust in You' as we reflect on the various attributes of God's mercy: the mercy that dwells forth for our life and happiness, the source of miracles, the mercy that encompasses the whole universe, and the mercy that shields us from the fire of hell. We trust in the Divine Mercy that lifts us out of every misery and serves as the source of our happiness.

*We are called to trust in the infinite mercy of God and to intercede for those who have not yet come to know Him.*
