## Welcome and Context

Good afternoon, this is Bill Young with John O'Rourke. Welcome to Catholic Conscience 2.0. Today we are on day eight of our Chaplet of Divine Mercy series, focusing on the souls who are detained in purgatory. We will pray Thursday’s specific prayer for those souls.

## Thursday’s Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory

O Lord Almighty, by the precious blood of Your Divine Son, Jesus, who offered Himself on the Cross, we ask that You deliver the souls in purgatory—especially those most devoted to the mystery of Your infinite love. May they be granted the grace to share in the divine life of the Holy Spirit and receive eternal glory. Amen.

## The Our Father, Hail Mary, and Apostles’ Creed

We continue with the ordinary prayers of the Mass:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in one Lord Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Litany of Divine Mercy

We then recited the Litany of Divine Mercy, responding each line with “I trust in you.” The litany praises Divine Mercy as the source of miracles, the companion of the whole universe, the grace flowing from the wound of Jesus, the hope for sinners, and the shield against the fires of hell.

## Closing Prayer

Eternal God, whose mercy knows no bounds, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy within us. In our moments of difficulty, may we not despair but trust fully in Your holy will, which is love and mercy itself. Amen.

We concluded with a brief prayer to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary for the conversion of sinners and the reparation of offenses against the Sacred Heart of Mary.

*May our prayers for the souls in purgatory draw down the boundless mercy of Christ, bringing them ever closer to the light of heaven.*
