# St. Patrick’s Rosary for the Family – The Sorrowful Mysteries
*2021-03-24*

> Bill Young and John O’Rourke lead a St. Patrick’s Day rosary focused on the Sorrowful Mysteries, invoking St. Patrick’s intercession for missionaries and concluding with a heartfelt closing prayer.

## Opening Prayer

We begin in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. May the strength of God protect us, the power of God preserve us, the wisdom of God instruct us, the hand of God guard us, the way of God direct us, the shield of God defend us, and the host of God guide us against the snares of the evil one and the temptations of the world. May Christ be with us, before us, in us, and all around us. May we ever belong to the Lord. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Closing Prayer

O God, who sent thy confessor and bishop St. Patrick to preach thy glory to the nations, grant, through his merits and intercession, that we may, by thy mercy, be enabled to do thy will. To our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, world without end, Amen.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you we cry, O blessed Mother of God, pray for us that we may be worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

I arise today through the strength of heaven, the light of the sun, the fire of the spirit, the swiftness of wind, the depth of the sea, the stability of earth, and the firmness of rock. May God’s wisdom guide me, His shield protect me, and Christ be with me, before me, in me, and above me, now and forever. Amen.

*May St. Patrick’s intercession inspire us to be missionary disciples, spreading the Gospel with courage and humility.*
