# Trust in God: A Litany for the Father and a Call to Protect the Unborn
*2020-08-01*

> Bill Young leads the Litany of the Father, reflects on the end‑times, and urges Catholics to speak out against abortion, emphasizing the sanctity of every unborn life.

## Opening and End‑Times Reflection

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. Today is Sunday, August 2nd, and the month of August is dedicated to God the Father. Before we begin the Litany of the Father, I want to mention a three‑part series on YouTube by Father Chris O’Leary about the signs of the end times. He argues that the end times may already be underway, pointing to events such as the pandemic, earthquakes, fires, tornadoes, and hurricanes. While we cannot know the exact moment of Christ’s return, Scripture tells us that even the Son does not know the hour (Mark 13:32).

## The Litany of the Father

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
Father of infinite majesty, have mercy on us.
Father of infinite power, have mercy on us.
Father of infinite goodness, have mercy on us.
Father of infinite tenderness, have mercy on us.
Father of infinite love, have mercy on us.
Father of powerful grace, have mercy on us.
Father of resurrection, have mercy on us.
Father of life and peace, have mercy on us.
Father of joy and salvation, have mercy on us.
Father of hope for those who pray, have mercy on us.
Father, compassionate toward all who suffer, have mercy on us.
Father, protect the weakest children, have mercy on us.
Father, care for the most helpless, have mercy on us.
Father, love the children who have not yet known you, have mercy on us.
Father, hear the cries of the desolate and neglected children, have mercy on us.
Father, bring the children into your kingdom, have mercy on us.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## A Prayer of Total Trust

Father, I abandon myself to you. Do with me whatever you desire. I thank you for all you do. I am ready for everything; I accept your will in me and in all creation. I desire nothing else but you, O God. I place my soul in your hands, offering it with love, trusting completely in you, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

## The Moral Imperative to Protect Unborn Life

The least among us are the unborn children who have not yet been born. Science shows that unborn babies are human beings, alive from conception. Abortion is the taking of innocent life—murder, plain and simple. The Church teaches that life is sacred from the moment of conception; both Scripture and the teachings of the Pope affirm this.

As Catholics, we must not support politicians who endorse abortion. We must speak out, urging our bishops, priests, and lay faithful to proclaim loudly that abortion is a grave moral evil. Those who persist in supporting it, while claiming to be Catholic, should be warned that they are acting contrary to the Church’s moral teaching.

Silence on this issue is tantamount to complicity, just as silence was complicity during the Nazi regime or under communism. The bishops are called to lead their flocks; they must denounce abortion unequivocally and call the faithful to vote for candidates who protect the unborn.

## Closing Appeal

I ask all listeners to pray for the unborn, to speak out for the vulnerable, and to hold our leaders accountable. May the Holy Father, our bishops, and all the faithful unite in defending the sanctity of life. Let us remember Jesus’ words: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matt 25:40).

*Protecting the unborn is a non‑negotiable expression of our love for the least of Christ’s children.*
