# The Anima Christi and the feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola

## The Anima Christi

Today is Friday, July 31st, 2020, and it is the feast day of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. To mark the occasion, we pray a short prayer written by Saint Ignatius called the Anima Christi, or the Soul of Christ.

Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, heal me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. Good Jesus, hear me. In your wounds shelter me. From turning away, keep me. From the evil one, protect me. At the hour of my death, call me. Into your presence, lead me, to praise with you with all the saints forever and ever. Amen.

## Prayer Intentions

I have a couple of requests to bring before the Lord. First, we pray regarding the current tropical storm and hurricane; we hope it stays far to the east and does not make landfall, protecting our properties and our lives from damage.

Secondly, we pray for the niece of one of our sisters in the Legion of Mary. She was born a few weeks ago and remains in the hospital, possibly due to low blood sugar or other underlying conditions. We pray that she recovers quickly and is able to go home soon.

## Looking Toward August

Tomorrow is the first of August, which also happens to be a First Saturday. The month of August is dedicated to God the Father. Throughout the coming month, we will be praying to our beautiful Father in heaven, the Father of the Son, Jesus, and the Father of all of us.

## Prayers for the Sick and Deceased

We continue to pray for those who are sick with coronavirus and for those who have passed away. Specifically, we pray for the soul of Herman King, who passed away yesterday, and for all those who have died from the virus.
