# The 15 promises of St. Bridget of Sweden

> Bill Young discusses the spiritual benefits and personal testimonies associated with the prayers given by Jesus to St. Bridget of Sweden, emphasizing God's protection and mercy.

## A Testimony of Protection

I want to share a personal story about the power of the prayers given to St. Bridget of Sweden. I began these prayers back in 2008. Shortly after, while returning from visiting family in Charlotte, North Carolina, I was driving south on the turnpike with my wife, mother, and teenage son in the car.

In a split second, I saw the lights of a car coming north in the wrong lane. It whizzed right behind me; if I had been in the left lane, or if the driver had veered slightly, we would have had a head-on collision. It would have been a tragic situation, potentially leaving my son without his parents and grandmother. I believe these prayers preserved me from sudden death. I also recall an unusual dream I had before the incident involving a woman with short blonde hair who looked exactly like the original paintings of St. Bridget. I believe she was waking me up to protect me.

## The Promises of the 15 Prayers

There are 15 different promises that Jesus gave to St. Bridget for those who recite these prayers. Some of the most powerful include the freeing of 15 souls of the person's relatives from Purgatory, the conversion of 15 sinners among their relatives, and the preservation of the faithful from sudden death.

Other promises include the sign of a victorious cross to defend against enemies, the appearance of Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary before death to lead the soul to eternal joy, and the gift of drinking from the source of His divinity. The Lord also promises to defend the practitioner from temptations, protect their five senses, and grant a hundred indulgences for every recitation. Furthermore, whoever teaches these prayers to another receives everlasting joy and merit, and wherever these prayers are said, God is present in His grace.

## Commitment to Prayer

These prayers do not take much time—perhaps 25 minutes for the 15 prayers. For those who cannot commit to the 15, there are also seven prayers that can be prayed over 12 years. If you miss a day, you can make it up the following day by praying them twice.

Especially now, unless you are a first responder or an essential worker—such as healthcare workers, police, or those keeping our food stores running—many of us have more time to dedicate to our spiritual lives. I highly recommend looking these prayers up online and starting them today. I thank St. Bridget of Sweden for the gifts she has brought into my life and thank Jesus for the promises He provided through her.
