*2020-07-17*

> Bill Young introduces a nine-day novena dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ, reflecting on the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

## Introduction to the Novena

Today is Saturday, July 18th. While we are continuing a novena for the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Anne and St. Joachim, I want to start a new novena today. July is dedicated to the Precious Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, so we will be reciting the Novena to the Most Precious Blood for nine days. Because the prayers are the same each day, you can simply replay this recording for the next eight days.

## The Novena Prayers

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. O God, come to my aid; O Lord, make haste to help me. The Blood of Jesus, save us. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, we offer You the merits of the most precious blood shed by Your beloved Son during His circumcision for the sanctification of the Church, of the Pope, of the bishops, and the liberation of the holy souls of Purgatory, especially for the souls that have been most forgotten. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of Jesus in reparation for my sins and for the needs of the Holy Church and for the holy souls of Purgatory. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Blood of Jesus, save us.

Eternal Father, we offer You the merits of the most precious blood shed by Your beloved Son during His agony in the garden. We ask You that there may be peace among nations and that the Jewish people may be ever more enlightened by Your truth. We pray for the conversion of the enemies of the Church, for the grace of which we most need, and for the liberation of the holy souls of Purgatory, especially for the souls nearest to the threshold of Your glory.

Eternal Father, we offer You the merits of the most precious blood shed by Your beloved Son during His scorning at the pillar. We ask You to enlighten the heretics and all those who do not believe in You. We also pray to You for the conversion of sinners and for the liberation of the holy souls in Purgatory, especially those who must spend time there. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Blood of Jesus, save us.

Eternal Father, we offer You the merits of the most precious blood shed by Your beloved Son during the crowning with thorns. We ask for all the graces which we need, as well as those needed by our relatives, friends, and enemies. And we ask for the liberation of the holy souls of Purgatory, especially the souls who most desire Your eyes. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Eternal Father, we offer You the most precious blood of Jesus in reparation for my sins and for the needs of the Holy Church and for the suffering of the holy souls in Purgatory. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Blood of Jesus, save us.

Eternal Father, we offer You the merits of the most precious blood shed by Your beloved Son on His journey to Calvary. We ask You for the salvation of those who on this day are asked to appear before Your judgment. We ask also for the liberation of the holy souls of Purgatory, especially the souls which were most devoted to Your precious blood. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of Jesus in reparation for my sins, for the needs of the Holy Church, and for the holy souls of Purgatory. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Blood of Jesus, save us.

Eternal Father, we offer You the most precious blood shed by Your beloved Son during His crucifixion for all priests, the ministers of this blood. And we ask You for the liberation of the holy souls of Purgatory, especially souls to whom we are most indebted. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Eternal Father, I ask You the most precious blood of Jesus in reparation for my sins and for the needs of the Holy Church and for the holy souls of Purgatory. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Blood of Jesus, save us.

Eternal Father, we offer You the merits of the most precious blood shed by the beloved Son whom the cruel lance opened His side, and we ask that You may come to the salvation of all those for whom it was shed and liberate the holy souls of Purgatory, especially the souls that are most devoted to the Virgin Mary. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Immaculate Virgin, I beseech you to offer the Eternal Father the Holy Passion and the most precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in order that in some part of the earth this day or this night, at least one mortal sin may be avoided. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Blood of Jesus, save us. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

## The Reality of the Eucharist

This is a very great novena. In some churches, the Precious Blood is only shared with the priests, and during the coronavirus pandemic, many have stopped the distribution of the Precious Blood. For many years, as a Eucharistic minister at St. Maximillian Kolbe, I had the opportunity to distribute the Precious Blood of our Lord. I always chose to receive it. I recall a former coworker asking how I could drink from the same cup as others, but he didn't realize that we aren't just drinking wine; it is the Blood of Christ.

It is sad that a survey once suggested 70% of Catholics do not truly believe that the wine is the Blood of Christ and the host is His Body. They think it is just a symbol. But this is the reality of the conversion and transformation that happens at every Mass around the world. He transforms the host into His Body and the wine into His Blood.

## A Vision of Hope

Before the pandemic, while driving home from Pompano Beach to Cooper City, I had a few experiences. Twice, I saw a blue light and thought I saw an image of Mary, though I initially wondered if it was just lights from the Hard Rock Casino. But the last time, I saw an image of Jesus coming from the east. It was red, which to me symbolizes the Blood of Christ. This shows us that God is with us.

These prayers are not just words; they are a reality. No matter the difficulties in our lives—whether it is the coronavirus, discrimination, battles, or riots—He is still with us. He will be with us until the end, and so will His mother. We look forward to the day when Satan's head is crushed and we enter a thousand years of reign where there is no death, sin, or sickness—only love for our Lord and love for our neighbors.

*The Precious Blood of Jesus is not a symbol, but a reality that brings us hope and love amidst the difficulties of the world.*
