# Prayers for Peace, Sandra Figueroa, and George Floyd
*2020-06-05*

> Bill Young leads a rosary for the Joyful Mysteries, offering prayers for the late Sandra Figueroa, the family of George Floyd, and for peace amid the pandemic and social unrest.

## Opening and Intentions

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. It’s Saturday, June 6, 2020, about 8 p.m. Normally we would pray the rosary with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, but they are now offering the rosary only on weekdays. I’ll try to make up for it by praying today and tomorrow. Since today is Saturday, we will pray the Joyful Mysteries.

First, I would like to offer intentions for Sandra Figueroa, a longtime Eucharistic minister coordinator in Palm Pines, Florida. Sandra passed away recently; a funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Maximilian and St. Colby in Palm Pines at 12:30 p.m. She was a beautiful, upbeat woman who helped many ministers bring Communion to the homebound. May she rest in the peace of Christ, and may her family feel God’s comfort.

## Prayer for the Pandemic and Social Unrest

We also pray for those affected by the coronavirus, especially the sick and the frontline workers. In addition, we lift up the family of George Floyd, whose tragic death has sparked worldwide protests. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find consolation. We ask the Lord to bring true peace to our streets, our nation, and the world, remembering that every human life is precious in God’s eyes.

## The Joyful Mysteries

We begin with the Apostles’ Creed and the Our Father, then move through the five Joyful Mysteries, each accompanied by a Hail Mary:

1. **The Annunciation** – We pray for humility and love of neighbor.
2. **The Visitation** – We pray for hope for those suffering illness, especially from COVID‑19.
3. **The Nativity** – We pray for peace on earth and an end to violence.
4. **The Presentation** – We pray for obedience and trust in God’s plan.
5. **Finding the Child in the Temple** – We pray for the joy of discovering Christ in our lives.

Each mystery is followed by a Hail Mary, a short intention, and the concluding “Glory be.”

## Closing Prayer and Marian Antiphon

We finish with the prayer to the Holy Mother of God, asking for mercy, protection, and the intercession of the saints—St. Joseph, St. John Paul II, St. Louis‑Marie de Montfort, and others. The final hymn praises Mary as the “morning star” who brings light and mercy to the world.

May the Lord grant us the grace to live out the mysteries we have meditated upon, and may the peace of Christ reign in our hearts.

*May we carry the peace of the rosary into our daily lives, praying for the suffering, the lost, and the world.*
