# Marian Consecration Prayers for May 1
*2020-03-29*

> Bill Young shares several Marian consecration prayers, especially those from the 33 Days in Morning Glory, in preparation for the national consecration to Mary on May 1, 2020.

## Why May 1 Matters

Tomorrow, May 1, the Bishop of Los Angeles will lead a national consecration to Mary on behalf of the United States bishops. The ceremony will be streamed on EWTN and likely also on Facebook Live. While we don’t yet know which prayer the bishops will use, it’s a perfect opportunity for the faithful to join in Marian consecration.

## Short Morning Glory Consecration

From the 33 Days in Morning Glory booklet (St. Louis de Montfort’s version):

“Mary, my Mother, I give myself totally to you as your possession and property. Make me, of all that I am and have, whatever most pleases you, a fit instrument in your immaculate and merciful hands for the greatest possible glory to God. Amen.”

## Longer Morning Glory Prayer

Bill recites the fuller version he uses after completing the 33‑day program:

“I, Bill Young, a repentant sinner, renew and ratify today in your hands, O Immaculate Mother, the vows of my baptism. I renounce Satan and resolve to follow Jesus Christ more closely than before. Mary, I give you my heart; set it ablaze with love for Jesus. Keep my heart in your pure heart that I may love Jesus and the members of his Body with perfect love. I entrust to you my body, soul, and all my goods, interior and exterior. Make me a fit instrument in your immaculate and merciful hands for the greatest possible glory to God. If I fall, lead me back to Jesus. With you, O Immaculate Mother, I unite myself to the perfect consecration of Jesus who offers himself to the Father for the life of the world. Amen.”

## St. Louis de Montfort’s Traditional Prayer

Another classic from St. Louis de Montfort:

“I, Bill Young, a faithless sinner, renew today the vows of my baptism. I renounce Satan forever and give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, to carry my cross after Him all my days. I consecrate to Mary my body, soul, and all my goods, interior and exterior, leaving to her the full right of disposing of me according to the greater glory of God, now and forever. Amen.”

## St. Maximilian Kolbe’s Consecration

Bill also shares the prayer composed by St. Maximilian Kolbe:

“O Immaculate Queen of Heaven, refuge of sinners, I, Bill Young, a repentant sinner, cast myself at your feet. Take all that I am and have, holy to you, your possession and property. Make me, of all my prayers, soul, body, life, death, and eternity, whatever most pleases you, a fit instrument of your immaculate and merciful hands to bring forth the greatest glory of God. May your hands extend the Blessed Kingdom of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Strengthen me against all enemies. Amen.”

## A Simple Short Prayer

For those who prefer a brief petition:

“Mary, I want to be a saint; I know you also desire me to be a saint. At this moment I freely give you my full permission to work in me through the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

## How to Participate

Listeners can pray any of these prayers while the bishop’s ceremony is broadcast. Bill will be praying the Morning Glory consecration at 3 p.m. Eastern Time and will post any updates. He also offers extra copies of the 33 Days in Morning Glory to anyone in the Broward County area who needs one.

*Joining in a Marian consecration, even from home, unites us with the Church’s worldwide prayer for Mary’s intercession.*
