# A Prayer for Protection in the Time of Pandemic

## Introducing the Prayer

Good evening. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer and Lunch podcast. Today we’re sharing a special prayer written by Pope Francis for protection in this time of pandemic. The prayer is addressed to the Blessed Mother.

## The Prayer to Our Blessed Mother

O Mary, you are always the light on our path, a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, especially the sick who, like Christ at the Cross, share in His plan while remaining steadfast in faith. Loving Mother, you know our needs, and we are confident that you will provide for us.

Intercede for us with your Son, Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for the vulnerable, and for those who have died. Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others, and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure. Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to follow Jesus, who bore our suffering and carried our sorrows, leading us through the Cross to the glory of the Resurrection. Amen.

## Closing Invocation

Under your protection we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God, in our needs. Do not disregard our petitions, but deliver us always from danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

## Announcements

Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, and we will begin our new series “Dirty Free Days to the Greater Glory,” a total consecration to the Father through Jesus based on the Gospel of John, written by Father Michael Gately. The series starts before Divine Mercy Sunday, which falls on April 19 this year. I will be praying for those who are sick and for anyone in need of help.
