> Bill Young leads the fifth day of a novena to St. Joseph, focusing on the desire to align one's life with God's most perfect will.

## Seeking God's Perfect Will

Today is day number five of our 'Nine Days to Joseph.' Our focus today is on St. Joseph, who did God's will. In our prayer, we acknowledge that while St. Joseph did God's will perfectly, we often struggle to do so on our own. Because we are prone to failure, we turn to St. Joseph as our spiritual father to guide us toward that same perfection.

## The Desire for Sainthood

The goal of this journey is to reach the degree of glory that God has prepared for each of us in heaven. We want to bear fruit that lasts and avoid letting God down; essentially, we want to be saints. However, we must be honest about our own weaknesses and sins. We ask St. Joseph to teach us how to follow the commandments and to make our hearts sensitive to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit.

## Surrendering to Divine Guidance

By entrusting ourselves to St. Joseph's care, we find the confidence that we will be shown how to always do God's will. This requires a total surrender, giving God permission to redirect the stream of our lives, even when that path departs from our own plans, in order to align us with His most perfect will.

## Unity in Times of Trial

Looking at the world around us, it is encouraging to see moments of agreement and cooperation between opposing parties, such as the Democrats and Republicans in the United States, working together for the sake of the country. We are facing a horrible disease, but we can overcome it through God's will.

*By entrusting ourselves to the intercession of St. Joseph, we can learn to surrender our own plans to follow God's most perfect will.*
