# The End Zone: Reflections on the End Times and the Joyful Mysteries
*2019-11-17*

> Bill Young shares a personal sales breakthrough, reflects on Jesus’ teachings about the end of the world, and leads listeners through the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary.

## A Personal Victory in the ‘End Zone’

I opened the episode by recounting a recent sales milestone. After seven years of never reaching $4,000 in personal sales, I finally crossed that line thanks to the generosity of three young women who contributed $100, $100, and $40. Their unexpected support reminded me that God’s spiritual help often comes at the moment we need it most.

## Jesus’ Teaching on the End of the World (Luke 21:5‑6)

We turned to Luke 21:5‑6, where Jesus says, “The day will come when not one stone will be left upon another; all will be thrown down.” He links the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 with the final consummation of history, showing that the same God who fulfilled prophecy then will also fulfill the ultimate prophecy. This dual prediction underscores the reality of the end times and calls us to be prepared. Jesus tells us, “By patience and endurance you will save your lives” (Luke 21:19), urging us to persevere in love and humility even amid persecution and turmoil.

## The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary

Following the scriptural reflection, we prayed the Rosary, focusing on the Joyful Mysteries:
• **The Annunciation** – humility as Mary says, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord.”
• **The Visitation** – love of neighbor as Elizabeth greets Mary.
• **The Nativity** – poverty and simplicity in the manger.
• **The Presentation** – obedience in presenting the infant Jesus at the Temple.
• **Finding Jesus in the Temple** – the joy of rediscovering Christ.
Each mystery was accompanied by the Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a short meditation on the fruit of the mystery (humility, love, poverty, obedience, and joy).

## Prayer and Closing Blessings

We concluded with the traditional prayers: the Apostles’ Creed, the Our Father, and a series of Hail Marys for love, hope, and peace. The final doxology echoed the ancient formula: “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.” I offered a prayer for forgiveness, protection from sin, and the salvation of those most in need of God’s mercy.

*May we live each day with the patience and love that prepares us for Christ’s promised return.*
