# Novena to our Lady of Graces and the healing prayers of Saint Pio
*2019-07-15*

> Bill Young leads a session of prayer featuring a novena to Our Lady of Graces, healing petitions through Saint Pio, and the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary.

## Community and Study

I am happy to see the comments coming in from our listeners, including a shout-out to a new friend from World Vision in Vietnam. It is a wonderful reminder of how we can open doors for Catholics and Christians around the world to learn more about Christ. For those asking about '33 Days in Morning Glory,' you can find more information at MarianPress.org.

Looking ahead, we will be starting a new study on Michael Gately's book, 'The One Thing,' which explains how the Most Holy Trinity is the key to everything. This is a more comprehensive series with ten lessons. For those in the South Florida area, you are welcome to join us at St. David's Catholic Church starting in August.

## Novena to Our Lady of Graces

We began our prayer time with a novena to Our Lady of Graces. We ask the Mother of God, the firstborn daughter of the Eternal Father, to be moved to pity for our souls and grant us the graces we seek. Through her immense wisdom and her heart, which is moved by human misfortune, we find a refuge for poor sinners and consolation for the afflicted. We place our full confidence in her goodness, trusting that she will obtain from Jesus the graces that are best for our souls.

## Healing Petitions and Saint Pio

We also turned to the healing prayers of Saint Pio. Because of his profound friendship with the Lord and the stigmata he bore for fifty years, we ask for his intercession for those needing physical, mental, and emotional healing.

During this time, we offered special petitions for a seven-year-old boy named Thomas, a friend and former coworker named Annette who is battling stage four breast cancer, and my wife's cousin Roger, who is also undergoing cancer treatment. We pray that all those suffering from these dreaded diseases may be healed and brought closer to our Lord.

## Consecration and Trust in the Sacred Heart

Following the Novena of Confidence, we performed the Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is a prayer for the entire world—from Vietnam and China to Europe and the Americas. We pray for those who have never known Christ, those who have rejected Him, and those deceived by erroneous opinions, asking that they may be drawn back to the harbor of truth and united in one flock under one shepherd.

## The Sorrowful Mysteries

We concluded our session by praying the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. We meditated on the Agony in the Garden, the Scourging at the Pillar, the Crowning with Thorns, the Carrying of the Cross, and the Crucifixion. Through these mysteries, we seek the fruits of sorrow for sin, purity, courage, patience, and perseverance, offering our prayers for the love of our neighbors, hope for the sick, and peace for the entire world.

*Our goal is to get closer to our Lord and proclaim the Good News to the world.*
