# A Luminous Rosary for the 75th Anniversary of D‑Day
*2019-06-05*

> Bill Young leads a Luminous Rosary honoring those who gave their lives on D‑Day and in all wars, invoking peace, love, hope, and mercy.

## Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

## Intentions of the Rosary

The first Hail Mary is offered for world peace and for all who died defending our freedom. The second Hail Mary is for love—love of neighbor and even love of our enemies. The third Hail Mary is for hope, trusting that true peace will come when Christ returns. Each Hail Mary concludes with the traditional prayer: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.”

## The Luminous Mysteries – First to Fifth

1. **The Baptism of Jesus** – The heavens opened, the Spirit descended like a dove, and the voice of the Father declared, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
2. **The Wedding at Cana** – Mary’s prompt to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you,” leads to the first miracle of turning water into wine.
3. **The Proclamation of the Kingdom** – “The kingdom of heaven is at hand; repent and believe the Gospel.”
4. **The Transfiguration** – Jesus’ face shines like the sun; a voice from the cloud says, “This is my beloved Son; listen to Him.”
5. **The Institution of the Eucharist** – Jesus gives us His Body and Blood as the new covenant.
Each mystery is followed by an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory Be, asking the Holy Spirit to open our hearts to the fruit of the mystery.

## Concluding Prayers

A final prayer to Our Lady, “Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope… pray for us that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.”
A brief “Cantina” prayer from the Legion of Mary follows, invoking the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Joseph, St. John the Evangelist, and St. Louis de Montfort.
The episode ends with a prayer for all veterans—those who fought at Normandy, in World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and every conflict for freedom of religion, conscience, and nation.

## Looking Ahead

Bill announces a forthcoming 3 o’clock Divine Mercy chaplet for those who have died by suicide, noting Father Chris Aguilar’s ministry for them.

*May the prayers of this Luminous Rosary bring peace to the souls of all who sacrificed for freedom and inspire us to work for lasting peace.*
