## Feast of the Most Holy Name

Good afternoon. This is Bill Young, and welcome to the Prayer & Lunch podcast. Today is June 2, the feast day of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. We’ll begin with a brief overview of the devotion to the Holy Name.

## Origins of the Devotion

In the 15th century, two champions of the Holy Name composed a litany that has been treasured for centuries. The devotion was later revived in the 19th century when, in 1843, Sister Marie of St. Peter, a Carmelite nun in Tours, France, reported a revelation from Jesus concerning the sin of blasphemy.

## Jesus’ Warning About Blasphemy

Jesus told Sister Marie that blasphemy wounds His heart. He described it as a “poisoned lance” that penetrates the soul of the sinner, crushing redemption and pronouncing self‑condemnation. He promised a “golden lance” to heal those wounds for those who invoke His name with sincere reparation.

## The Prayer of Reparation

We now pray the litany that honors the most holy, most sacred, most admirable Name of God:

May the most holy, most sacred, most admirable, most incomprehensible and inevitable Name of God be forever praised, blessed, loved, adored, and glorified in heaven, on earth, and beneath the earth, by all creatures of God and by the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the most holy sacrament of the altar, we ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Each time we repeat these words, we heal the wound of blasphemy with love. May we never underestimate the horror of this sin, and may we experience the glory that heaven grants to those who invoke the Name of God in a spirit of reparation.

## Closing Blessing

May God bless you all, and may He bless the Name of Jesus forever.

*Invoking the Holy Name of Jesus with sincere reparation heals the wounds of blasphemy and draws us into God’s boundless mercy.*
