# St. Maximilian Kolbe’s Prayer of Consecration – Day 14
*2018-04-22*

> Bill Young examines St. Maximilian Kolbe’s three‑part Marian consecration prayer, explaining its invocation, the offering of self, and the request to be used as an instrument for Christ’s kingdom.

## Introducing Day 14

Welcome back to Prayer & Lunch. Today is day 14 of our “33 Days to Morning Glory” series, the final day of week two devoted to St. Maximilian Kolbe. Tomorrow we begin week three with the Blessed Mother Teresa, who will be canonized this September.

## Part 1 – The Invocation

Kolbe opens his consecration with a beautiful invocation of Mary:

“O Immaculate Queen of Heaven and Earth, Refuge of Sinners, and our most loving Mother, God has willed to entrust the whole order of mercy to you.”

He emphasizes Mary’s title “Immaculate,” highlighting her intimate union with the Holy Spirit, and adds “Mother,” recalling her humility, tenderness, and her role as “Mother of all graces.”

## Part 2 – Offering Ourselves

The second part is a personal petition to become Mary’s property:

“I, Bill Young, a repentant sinner, cast myself at your feet, humbly imploring you to take me, with all that I am and have—my soul, my body, my whole life, death, and eternity—according to whatever pleases you most.”

Kolbe’s wording echoes the classic formula of Saint Louis de Montfort and Blessed Demetrios (Demontford), but he condenses it into a concise, heartfelt offering.

## Part 3 – The Purpose of the Offering

In the final section Kolbe asks Mary to use him without reserve for the greater glory of God:

“If it pleases you, use all that I am and have, without reservation, to accomplish what is promised to you. Crush the head of the enemy and destroy all heresy. Let me be a fit instrument in your immaculate and merciful hands, increasing your glory and extending the blessed kingdom of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.”

He stresses two goals: the total defeat of Satan and the expansion of the Kingdom of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Kolbe later founded the Militia Immaculata, a movement that leads souls to Christ through Mary to the Sacred Heart.

## Looking Ahead

Next week we will reflect on Mother Teresa’s spirituality, especially her devotion to the Sacred Heart, which resonates with Kolbe’s emphasis on that devotion as the ultimate aim of our consecrated lives.

*Kolbe’s consecration invites us to surrender completely to Mary, trusting her to make us instruments of Christ’s love and victory over evil.*
