# The Holy Trinity is hungry for souls

## A Dedication for 2018

As we begin the year 2018, I have been reflecting on signs from God—specifically images of triangles representing the Holy Trinity. I have come to the conclusion that the Holy Trinity is hungry for souls and for the conversion of sinners, which includes myself and everyone listening.

In light of this, I want to share a simple prayer of dedication. It goes: 'I dedicate myself to the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, for the conversion of souls and for the conversion of myself completely.' While we are not in charge of other souls, we are in charge of ourselves, and that is where the work of complete conversion begins.

## The Holy Spirit and the Legion of Mary

Using the Legion of Mary handbook, we see how significant the Holy Spirit is to the Legion's identity. The first corporate act of the Legion was to address itself to the Holy Spirit. Even the Vexillum—the Legion's standard—reflects this; the dove of the Holy Spirit replaced the eagle of the Roman legions, and Our Lady's image replaced the emperor. This symbolizes the Holy Spirit using Mary as a channel of life-giving influence to the world.

Interestingly, the color of the Legion is red rather than blue. This is to denote that Mary is full of the Holy Spirit, as seen in the red halo in the Vexillum and the works of artists like Torescce. The Holy Spirit regenerates the world, and His agency is always through Mary. By the operation of the Holy Spirit in Mary, the Eternal Son was made man.

## Mary's Relation to the Divine Persons

Understanding the Trinity can be complex, but we can glimpse the divine arrangement through Mary's relationship with the three persons. Her relation to the Second Person, Jesus, is that of a Mother—a union of souls and flesh that is indefinitely surpassing any normal human relationship. She is not only a helpmate but is described as the Co-redemptrix.

Regarding the Holy Spirit, Mary is more than just a temple; she is an intelligent co-operator. When she acts, it is as if the Holy Spirit acts through her. Finally, her relation to the Father is that of a Daughter. Because of her union with Christ, she is the most acceptable child of God, and through her, the Father pours out the everlasting light.

## Dependence on Our Blessed Mother

St. Louis-Marie de Montfort teaches us that we should have a total dependency on Our Blessed Lady because the Trinity itself shows this example. The Father does not give His Son, nor does He communicate graces, except through her. The Son was formed for the world only through her. The Holy Spirit formed Jesus and continues to form the members of Christ's mystical body through her.

Because of these examples from the Most High Trinity, it would be blindness to dispense ourselves from Mary or to fail to consecrate ourselves to her.

## Seeking Deeper Understanding

I will admit that these theological topics can sometimes feel over my head. I am not a theologian, and I often wonder why God picks someone like me to spread the word. Perhaps it is because if I can do it, anyone can. I have been reading a book on the Holy Trinity by Father Michael Gately, and although I've had to put it down a few times because of its complexity, I am committed to finishing it. I hope to attend his presentations in Orlando this February to further my knowledge.

*The Holy Trinity is present to help, guide, and love us, and we can draw closer to this divine love by cooperating with the Holy Spirit through the intercession of Mary.*
