## Remembering Aunt Susanne

I recently learned from my brother, Tim, that my aunt Susanne passed away. While I am saddened by the news, I find joy in the good memories I have of her. I want to offer my deepest condolences to Madeline and her family, and to my cousins Jennifer and Graham and their families, for the loss of your mother.

I recall a wonderful experience when Susanne and her husband visited South Florida. They took my wife, Pat, my son, Gregory, and me to a seafood restaurant in Fort Lauderdale by the water. They were such generous and kind people. My son was still a teenager at the time, and they were very impressed with him; they had a wonderful conversation at the dinner table.

## A Life Well Lived

Growing up in New York City, I didn't get to see them as often as I would have liked, and I never had the chance to meet my cousins. I hope that if any of you are ever in the South Florida area, you will contact me so that we can get together and I can finally meet your families and your children.

In learning more about Susanne's life, I discovered things I wasn't even aware of—such as the fact that in her younger days, she had a pilot's license and flew around the world. She lived a full and gusty life, and for that, we can be happy.

## Prayers for the Departed

Although I am Catholic and she was Protestant, we believe in the same God and the same Christ. I know that through my prayers and the life she lived, she is now with our Lord, Jesus Christ. I have been recording a prayer podcast for about ten years, and I want to offer a few prayers for my aunt Susanne.

Saints of God, come to her aid; come to meet her, angels of the Lord. Take her soul and present her to God the Most High. May Christ, who has called you, take you to Himself. May the angels lead you to Abraham's side. Give her eternal rest, O Lord, and may Your light shine on her forever.

All-powerful, merciful God, we commend Your servant Susanne to You. In Your mercy and love, blot out the sins that she committed through her human weakness. Since she has died, let her live with You forever and ever. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. May her soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

## Final Thoughts

My condolences go out to all the family members. I wish I could be there with you all at this time, but unfortunately, I have work commitments that I cannot get out of. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. May peace be with her forever. God bless you all.

*Through the mercy of God and the power of prayer, we find hope that our loved ones are resting in the eternal peace of our Lord.*
