# A Rosary of Reparation for Hyman on His Ninth Birthday
*2018-01-10*

> Bill Young celebrates Hyman’s ninth birthday with a special rosary of reparation to the Holy Name of Jesus, while remembering St. John Neumann and urging support for the Ariel Anchor Cancer Foundation.

## Remembering Hyman

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. Today we honor a little boy named Hyman, who turns nine. Hyman has battled brain tumors his whole life, and his family says he is now in hospice and may not have much time left. We pray for Hyman, for his mother Monica, and for all the children who suffer such illnesses. If you feel called to help, you can support the Ariel Anchor Cancer Foundation at cancerbills.org.

## The Rosary of Reparation

We will pray a Rosary of Reparation in honor of the Holy Name of Jesus for Hyman. The devotion recalls an 1846 apparition of the Virgin Mary in La Cato, France, who warned that blasphemy against the Holy Name would bring grave consequences. The prayer asks that the most holy, sacred, and adored Name of God be praised forever, that sinners be converted, the dying saved, and the souls in purgatory liberated. The rosary follows the usual structure of Our Father, ten Hail Marys, and Glory Be, each Hail Mary invoking the Divine Heart of Jesus to convert sinners, save the dying, and free the souls in purgatory.

## St. John Neumann and the Call to Service

Today's saint of the day is St. John Neumann, the third bishop of Philadelphia. He founded many Catholic schools, cared for the poor, and especially for the most vulnerable children. A reflection on his life reminds us that Christ gives us both mission and the means to fulfill it. We are called to continue his work by teaching, serving, and supporting those in need.

## Concluding Prayers

We finish with the Hail Holy Queen, asking the Mother of Mercy to intercede for us, especially for Hyman and his family. We pray for eternal rest for the departed and for the perpetual light to shine upon them. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we conclude the rosary of reparation.
