# Prayers for Texas and Louisiana
*2017-08-25*

> Bill Young leads a special prayer for those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Louisiana, and surrounding areas, offering a Marian prayer written by St. John Paul II.

## Opening

Good evening, I’m Bill Young. Welcome to the Prayer & Lunch podcast. Tonight we’re offering prayers for everyone in the path of Hurricane Harvey, especially those in Corpus Christi, Texas, and the surrounding regions of Texas, Louisiana, and Mexico.

## Prayer for Safety

We pray that the storm will spare you from serious damage, that it will move over water and not cause loss of life, injury, or major property loss. May God’s mercy protect all who are in danger.

## The Prayer to the Mother of Divine Beautiful Love

We now pray the prayer to the Mother of Divine Beautiful Love, composed by St. John Paul II:

“Hail, all‑holy Mother, Queen of the world. You are the Mother of divine love, the Mother of Jesus, the fountain of every grace, the perfume of every virtue, the mirror of every purity. You are the joy in our weeping, the victory in battle, hope in death. What a sweet taste your name has on our lips; what a gentle harmony it brings to our ears; what elation it gives our hearts. You are the happiness of those who suffer, the crown of martyrs, the beauty of virgins. Lead us, we beseech, after our exile, to the possession of your Son, Jesus. Amen.”

## Closing Prayer

Lord, we entrust all those affected by Hurricane Harvey to Your loving care. Grant them safety, comfort, and the means to rebuild what has been lost. Through Mary’s intercession, may they experience Your peace.

*May Mary’s maternal love shield and sustain all who face the storm’s aftermath.*
