# Prayer of reparation for the world

> Bill Young discusses the importance of praying for world peace and the power of reparation, sharing a specific prayer to help the faithful avoid purgatory.

## Praying for a hurting world

Good afternoon. Today is Friday, August 18th. It has been a sad time with the reports of deaths in Spain and Finland. We must pray for the world and for all those affected by these tragedies. I want to share a special prayer with you. A sister from the Poor Clares used to recite this prayer daily; after her death, she appeared to a convert who was praying for her and explained that she went directly to heaven because she had paid her debts and was preserved from purgatory by reciting this prayer every evening.

## The prayers of Fatima

Before we get to that prayer, let us reflect on the prayers of Fatima. The Angel of Peace gave provisions to the three little children in 1916 that remain valid today. One such prayer is: 'My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love you. I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, and do not hope, and do not love you.'

Another prayer to the Holy Trinity asks that we offer the most precious body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, discourages, and indifference by which He is abandoned. Through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we beg for the conversion of poor sinners.

## A prayer of reparation

For those who are anguished or in pain, or for family members suffering, I encourage you to pray this prayer of reparation. It focuses on the conversion of sinners and reparation for offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

'Eternal Father, through the hands of Our Lady of Sorrows, I offer you the Sacred Heart of Jesus with all his love, with all his sufferings, and with all his merits, to atone for all the sins I have committed today and throughout my past life. Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.'

'Eternal Father, through the hands of Our Lady of Sorrows, I offer you the Sacred Heart of Jesus with all his love, with all his sufferings, and with all his merits, to purify the good for which I did badly today and throughout my past life. Glory be to the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.'

'Eternal Father, through the hands of Our Lady of Sorrows, I offer you the Sacred Heart of Jesus with all his love, with all his sufferings, and with all his merits, to compensate for the good that I have failed to do today and throughout my past life. Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.'

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## The role of Our Mother

Our Lady of Fatima asks us to pray the rosary every day. When we fail to do this, we are disobeying a mother who loves and adores us. Some may ask why we honor Mary. Consider the example of a son who obeys his mother and grandmother out of love and respect. At the Wedding at Cana, when Mary asked Jesus to help because they were running out of wine, Jesus obeyed His mother. This is why we pray for her intercession. As St. Maximilian Kolbe stated, before you could be Jesus' brother, you must have Mary, His mother, as your spiritual mother.

Mary protects us and loves all her children. Just as God loves all of us—even when we make mistakes and act as sinners—Mary intercedes for us. Prayer is the most powerful thing you can do, regardless of the language you speak. God and Mary listen.

## The power of intercession

I believe prayers make a real difference. For example, during the crisis with North Korea and the threats toward Guam, many of us prayed specifically to avoid that cup of war. In my personal opinion, prayers helped change the situation. We thank Mary for interceding and thank Jesus for listening to His mother, as He always does. His love for her is tremendous; she stood by Him during His torture and death on the cross, enduring unimaginable pain because she knew it had to happen for our salvation.

*Pray the rosary daily and use prayers of reparation to seek the conversion of sinners and the peace of the world.*
