# August Dedicated to God the Father – Litany and Prayers
*2017-08-01*

> Bill Young leads a prayerful reflection for the month of August, dedicated to God the Father, offering a litany, the Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary, and a personal “Trust in God” prayer for those suffering.

## Why August Honors the Father

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. August is set aside to honor God the Father in heaven. While we often hear about the Son, the Father is the source of all love, power, and mercy, and today we’ll focus our prayers on Him.

## The Litany of the Father

Father, infinite mercy, have mercy on us.
Father of infinite power, have mercy on us.
Father of infinite goodness, have mercy on us.
Father of infinite tenderness, have mercy on us.
Father, will of love, have mercy on us.
Father, our powerful grace, have mercy on us.
Father, light of resurrection, have mercy on us.
Father, light of peace, have mercy on us.
Father, joy of salvation, have mercy on us.
Father ever more fatherly, have mercy on us.
Father of infinite splendor, have mercy on us.
Father of salvation for the hopeless, have mercy on us.
Father, hope of those who pray, have mercy on us.
Father, compassionate toward all who are in pain, have mercy on us.
Father of the weakest children, we pray for you.
Father of the most hopeless children, we pray for you.
Father of the neglected children, we pray for you.
Father of the children who have not yet known you, we pray for you.
Father of the desolated children, we pray for you.
Father of the children who combat for the coming of your kingdom, have mercy on us.

## The Lord’s Prayer and Hail Mary

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

## Prayer for Those in Suffering

Father, we pray for all children, for every child who suffers, for those afflicted by cancer and every terrible disease. May your infinite mercy bring relief to physical, emotional, and spiritual pain. We also lift up our political leaders—President Trump, Vice President Pence, and former General John Kelly—asking that they act with the dedication and integrity of a true servant of the nation.

## Trust in God Prayer

Lord, I abandon myself to you. Do with me whatever you desire. I thank you for all you do. I am ready for everything, accepting your will in me and in all your creatures. I desire nothing else but your will. I place my soul in your hands, giving it to you out of love, trusting completely because you are my Father. Amen.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

## Closing Blessing

May this August be a time of deep trust in God the Father for all of us. Let us continue to pray for those in pain—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—asking the Almighty to bring comfort and healing. God created the world in seven days; He alone can heal every wound. Amen.

*August invites us to place our trust wholly in God the Father, whose mercy sustains all who suffer.*
