# Praying the Hearts of Jesus and Mary for World Peace
*2017-06-27*

> Bill Young reflects on the urgent need for prayer amid global conflicts, offers a special prayer to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and shares a daily devotion honoring the Holy Wounds of Christ.

## A Call to Pray the Rosary for Peace

Bill welcomes listeners and urges everyone to pray the daily Rosary, especially as the world faces crises in Syria and North Korea that could lead to a wider war. He reminds us that Mary herself asked us to pray the Rosary for peace, and he asks that our participation in the upcoming Rosary challenge be offered for her, not for personal glory.

## Encounter with Baptists and the Importance of Sacraments

During his morning walk Bill met a Baptist who was handing out literature. He noted their emphasis on full immersion baptism and their lack of a priesthood. Bill explained the Catholic view: infant baptism removes original sin, confirmation brings the Holy Spirit, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, entrusted to priests, grants forgiveness of sins. He also affirmed the Real Presence in the Eucharist and the Church’s teaching on wine in the liturgy.

## Feast of St. Cyril of Alexandria

Bill mentions that June 27 is the feast day of St. Cyril of Alexandria, a great teacher and defender of the faith. He asks for St. Cyril’s intercession for the people of Syria, that they be spared from chemical attacks and the loss of innocent lives.

## Prayer to the Hearts of{}Jesus and Mary

Bill leads a heartfelt prayer invoking the various attributes of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary—humility, purity, wisdom, patience, obedience, valence, faithfulness, joy, mercy, and love. He consecrates his own heart to them, asking that they be purified, sanctified, and that they may reign forever.

## Daily Prayer Honoring the Holy Wounds

Bill presents a structured devotion that includes the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be, followed by a petition for forgiveness, protection from hell, and the grace to live according to God’s will. He repeats this pattern for each of the five Holy Wounds (right hand, left hand, right foot, left foot, and side), concluding each with the traditional Marian prayer and a Doxology.

## Morning Offering

Bill closes with a morning offering, acknowledging Jesus’ sorrowful Sacred Heart, offering his day’s actions to God, and asking for the grace to love and serve neighbors. He ends by invoking the Holy Trinity and asking for the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima.

*May our hearts be united with the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, so that our prayers may bring peace to a troubled world.*
