# Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

> Bill Young reflects on the feast of St. Thomas More, shares his “Workout Rosary” challenge, and leads listeners in the Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as taught by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.

## Feasts of St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. Today, June 22, we celebrate two English saints: St. Thomas More, the “Man of All Seasons,” and St. John Fisher, his close friend. Both gave their lives rather than compromise with King Henry VIII. I encourage everyone to watch the film *A Man for All Seasons* again—it’s a great reminder of their witness.

## Prayer for Our Leaders

Last Father’s Day I attended Mass at St. Gabriel’s, where Archbishop Whittaker celebrated. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and his wife were present, and I offered a quick prayer for them. Let us pray for all our political leaders—from the President and Vice‑President to members of Congress and state legislatures—that they may act according to God’s will rather than personal ambition.

## The Workout Rosary Challenge

I’ve been using my stationary bike for a daily rosary. It feels like a two‑edged sword: the physical exertion sharpens my body while the rosary sharpens my soul. Inspired by the “Sacrifice Prayer” given to the children of Fatima on July 13, 1917—

“ O Jesus, this is for love of You, for the conversion of poor sinners, and for reparation for offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. ”

I’m launching a “Workout Rosary Challenge” on July 13, 2017, the centennial of the third Fatima apparition. Participants can pray the rosary while exercising, offering a small sacrifice—perhaps a dollar for each Hail Mary or Our Father. I hope members of my Legion of Mary, both English‑ and Spanish‑speaking, will join and share videos on YouTube.

## Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart

June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and St. Margaret Mary Alacoque gave us a beautiful act of consecration. I invite you to pray it, inserting your own name where indicated:

“I, Bill Young, consecrate myself, my life, my actions, my sorrows, and my sufferings to the adorable Heart of our Lord Jesus, that I may use every part of my being only to honor, love, and glorify Him. This is my inviolable will to belong wholly to Him, to do everything for His love, truly abstaining from anything that might displease Him. I choose the Sacred Heart as the sole object of my love, the custodian of my life, the remedy for my weaknesses, and my refuge at the hour of death. Loving Heart, I place all my trust in You, for I fear my own malice and weakness; therefore I put all my hope in Your goodness. May Your pure love be impressed deeply upon my heart, that I may never forget nor be separated from You. Through Your mercy, may my name be written in Your heart, that I may realize my happiness and glory by living and dying as Your servant. Amen.”

## The Steps of the Passion (Preview)

Tomorrow we will continue with the “Steps of the Passion,” a series of short prayers recalling Christ’s suffering—from the garden of Gethsemane to the crucifixion and burial. Each step ends with the plea, “Lord, have mercy.”

*Consecrating ourselves to the Sacred Heart unites our daily struggles with Christ’s love and mercy.*
