# Praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for Manchester
*2017-05-23*

> Bill Young leads a prayer for the victims of the Manchester tragedy, offering the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Apostles’ Creed, and heartfelt petitions for the deceased, the injured, and their families.

## Opening Prayer

We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, come to my aid; make haste to help me.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

## The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father Almighty, from where He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Eternal Father, I offer You the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Your beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and for the sins of the whole world.

On each of the ten Hail Mary beads we pray:
“For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.” (Repeated ten times.)

We conclude with the threefold invocation:
“Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.” (Repeated three times.)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

## Intentions for Manchester

We pray for the 22 souls who lost their lives in Manchester, for those who were injured and for speedy recovery, and for the families who mourn. May they find strength in the midst of suffering. We also lift up all who were present that night, especially those like Eliotta Grande, who are grappling with pain and decision. May evil not prevail over them, and may God’s mercy sustain them.

*Through the Chaplet of Divine Mercy we unite our hearts with Christ’s compassion for all who suffer.*
