# St. Louis de Montfort’s Rosary Prayer and a Prayer of St. Augustine
*2017-05-19*

> Bill Young shares the Rosary Prayer from St. Louis de Montfort’s Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary and a beautiful prayer of St. Augustine, reflecting on their meaning and his upcoming Marian conference.

## The Rosary Prayer of St. Louis de Montfort

Good morning, I’m Bill Young. I’d like to begin with the Rosary Prayer that St. Louis de Montfort includes in his book *Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary*. It opens:

“Hail Mary, well‑beloved Daughter of the Eternal Father, Mother of the Son, most faithful spouse of the Holy Spirit, august temple of the Most Holy Trinity. Hail sovereign Princess, to whom all is subject in heaven and on earth. Hail our refuge, O Lady of Mercy, who has never rejected any sinner. I, a sinful one, cast myself at your feet and ask you to obtain for me from good Jesus, your dear Son, consecration and pardon for all my sins, together with divine wisdom. I consecrate myself to you, along with all that I have. I take you today as my Mother and my Mistress. Treat me then as your last child and most obedient servant. Listen, my Princess, to the desire of my heart to love and serve you faithfully. May it be said that all who have you love you faithfully.”

He continues, “Graciously hear me, defend me, nourish me, instruct me, and save me. Amen.”

## A Prayer of St. Augustine

In the same book, on page 94, I found a night prayer that St. Louis de Montfort strongly recommends, originally composed by St. Augustine. It reads:

“O Jesus Christ, you are my Father, my merciful God, my king, my good shepherd, my master, my helper, my beloved friend, my loving bread, and my eternal priest. You are my guide to the heavenly home, my true light, my joy, my way, my wisdom, my simplicity, the peace of my soul, my perfect safeguard, my boundless inheritance, my everlasting Lord. Christ, why have I ever loved or desired anything else but you, my God? Where was I when I was not in communion with you? From now on I desire that all my wishes be inspired by you and centered on you. May my heart be softened by the influence of your Spirit, may your love burn within me, and may I appear before you consumed in love. Amen.”

## Looking Ahead to a Marian Conference

I’m excited to attend a Marian conference tomorrow at Mary Maria University. Last year, after completing the consecration, I experienced many graces, including receiving a picture of Divine Mercy from Fr. Chris Aguilar, a Marian priest. I hope to learn from the speakers and share those blessings with you.

Tomorrow morning I will meet with the Legion of Mary, and I ask for your prayers for a safe trip and for the Holy Spirit’s presence with us. May our guardian angels protect us all.

*May the prayers of St. Louis de Montfort and St. Augustine draw us ever closer to Jesus through Mary.*
