# The Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin – A Prayer Inspired by St. Louis de Montfort
*2017-05-18*

> Bill Young introduces the Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin, explains its roots in St. Louis de Montfort’s devotion, shares the prayer text, and reflects on upcoming Marian events.

## Why the Little Crown?

St. Louis de Montfort taught that true devotion to Mary includes the “Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin.” Unlike the great Crown of the Rosary, this prayer is a short, daily devotion that recalls Mary’s unique role in salvation history, drawing on Revelation 12:1‑18. It reminds us of three reasons Mary is crowned: her unequal greatness among all creatures, the unlimited power given to her by God, and her motherly goodness that draws us to Christ.

## The Prayer of the Little Crown

The Little Crown is traditionally divided into three parts—Crown of Greatness, Crown of Power, and Crown of Goodness. Each section begins with the Our Father, follows with a Hail Mary, and concludes with a short petition. Below is a cleaned version of the prayer:

**Crown of Greatness**
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

**Crown of Power** (same Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory) and **Crown of Goodness** (same structure) follow the same pattern, each honoring a different aspect of Mary’s role.

The prayer concludes with a heartfelt address to Mary, asking her to be a seal upon our hearts and to lead us ever closer to Christ.

## Personal Reflections and Upcoming Marian Conference

Bill shares his excitement about the upcoming sixth annual Marian conference at Ave Maria University. He recalls the blessings he received at last year’s event, including a Divine Mercy picture from Father Chris Aguilar and a medal of Mother Teresa. He encourages listeners in the Naples, Florida area to attend and hopes to record a live podcast from the conference.

He also mentions his participation in a Legion of Mary meeting, where he will pray the Little Crown after the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary.

## Closing Prayer

Bill ends with a traditional Marian prayer: “Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope…" He asks for Mary’s intercession for all sinners, especially those most in need of God’s mercy, and concludes with the Trinitarian doxology.

He asks for prayers for his safe travel to the conference and thanks Mary for making him a child of her maternal love.

*The Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin offers a simple, daily way to honor Mary’s greatness, power, and goodness, drawing us closer to Christ.*
