# Chaplet to Our Lady of Fatima – Day One
*2017-05-04*

> Bill Young introduces the first day of a new chaplet to Our Lady of Fatima, shares his recent service and the First Saturday devotion, and leads listeners through the opening prayers of the chaplet.

## A Quick Personal Update

Good afternoon, I’m Bill Young. Yesterday I volunteered with the Miami Dolphins Special Teams Volunteer Group, and we packed over one million meals for the hungry and homeless. It was a simple task—rice, beans, peas—but it reminded me how blessed we are to be able to give.

I also want to encourage anyone who hasn’t yet embraced the First Saturday devotion to try it. The first Saturday of each month we are called to receive Holy Communion, go to confession, pray the Rosary, and attend Mass. I was able to fit confession at 4:00 p.m., the Rosary at 4:30, and Mass at 5:00, covering all the requirements in one evening. I plan to continue this for the next four first Saturdays.

## Introducing the Chaplet

Now let’s begin the chaplet to Our Lady of Fatima. We start with the Sign of the Cross: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Then we pray: “O God, come to my aid. O Lord, make haste to help me.”

We follow with the doxology: “Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.”

## The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

## Opening Prayer of the Chaplet

O Virgin Mary, who appeared on the lonely mountains of Portugal to the shepherd children, teaching us that we sometimes must withdraw to be alone with God in prayer for the good of our souls. Obtain for us love, prayer, and meditation, that we may listen to the voice of the Lord and fulfill His holy will with faithful obedience.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us. Amen.

## Closing

That concludes the first day of the chaplet. May the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima guide you throughout the week. Have a great Monday.

*Embracing the First Saturday devotion and the chaplet to Our Lady of Fatima can deepen our prayer life and bring us closer to Christ.*
