*2017-03-27*

> Bill Young leads a full rosary using the special format composed by St. Louis Mary de Montfort, focusing on the Joyful Mysteries in honor of the saint’s feast day.

## Opening and Intent

Good morning. I’m Bill Young, welcoming you to the Prayer & Lunch podcast and Block Talk Radio. Today, on St. Louis de Montfort’s feast day (April 27), we pray the Joyful Mysteries according to the method he composed for the Daughters of Wisdom. Whether you’re listening alone or with a group, we begin by offering this rosary to our Lord Jesus Christ, uniting with the saints in heaven, the faithful on earth, and all of you listening now. May we pray with modesty, attention, and devotion as if it were our last rosary.

## The Apostles’ Creed and Our Father

We start with the Apostles’ Creed: “I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth… I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Only‑begotten Son of God… He suffered, died, and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again… He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.”

Our Father: “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.”

## Joyful Mystery 1 – The Annunciation

We offer this first decade in honor of the Incarnation. “Lord Jesus, through this mystery and the intercession of your holy Mother, grant us profound humility.”

Hail Mary (repeated for each decade as St. Louis prescribed, adding the phrase “Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, Incarnate”).

Glory Be: “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.”

“Lord Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead our souls to heaven, especially those most in need of your mercy.”

## Joyful Mystery 2 – The Visitation

We pray the second decade for the Visitation of Mary to Saint Elizabeth and the sanctification of John the Baptist. “Lord Jesus, through this mystery we ask for clarity toward our neighbor and charity toward all.”

Hail Mary (with the same added phrase).

Glory Be and the same concluding prayer to the Lord.

## Joyful Mystery 3 – The Nativity

The third decade honors the birth of our Lord in the stable of Bethlehem. “Lord Jesus, through this mystery we ask for the humility of poverty and love of the poor, inspired by your Mother’s simple faith.”

Hail Mary (with the added phrase).

Glory Be and the concluding prayer to the Lord.

## Joyful Mystery 4 – The Presentation in the Temple

The fourth decade reflects the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple and the purification of Mary. “Lord Jesus, through this mystery grant us purity of body and spirit.”

Hail Mary (with the added phrase).

Glory Be and the concluding prayer to the Lord.

## Joyful Mystery 5 – The Finding in the Temple

The final decade celebrates the Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple. “Lord Jesus, through this mystery we ask for true wisdom through Mary’s intercession.”

Hail Mary (with the added phrase).

Glory Be and the concluding prayer to the Lord.

## Closing Prayer

Hail Holy Faith, most beloved Daughter of the Eternal Father, Mother of the Son, faithful spouse of the Holy Spirit, refuge of sinners, Our Lady of Mercy. We cast ourselves at your feet, asking for forgiveness, divine wisdom, and the grace to follow you as our mother and guide. May the Virgin Mary bless us with her loving Son. Amen.

*Praying the rosary with St. Louis de Montfort’s method deepens our devotion to Mary and draws us into the mysteries of Christ’s life.*
